Oh my goodness. The unevenness of the trim is funny... but in a super cute way. You did just fine. It looks like this kitty's trim is a 2 person job... one to hold & distract & the other to trim. No worries.. you'll get better at it (and she'll tolerate it more). Thanks for sharing :)

Wonderful haircut!

Please be aware that long fur protects a cat from excessive heat, in the same way it protects from excessive cold. A cat's body temperature is significantly higher than a human, so where we would be uncomfortable, they are not. If they were, they would not lay in the sunspots in the house. I have six ragdolls in west Texas and the only time I shave them is when they develop deep mats (as very elderly cats do) or need hygiene trims.

I struggle with the guards so much. It's like it doesn't actually take anything out. I have a long hair who mats once the fur is over two inches long. I don't want to have to shave him down completely, just manage it. But I do recommend a thinning shears for around the face and mane. It helps my gentleman groom himself without constantly getting caught on his own fur

respect, you got it done and she will thank you in this weather. i am having a very hard time trimming my long hair, she has very little interest in food and will happily eat only dry food. she is so impatient and when she is done, she is done. very hard to continue without totally risking traumatizing her. i feel so sorry for her in this heat, think i will bring her to a pro for this one, poor thing already has a few clumps of matted fur under her arms, but she will not stay still long enough to cut them out with scissors

You have a great calm cat. My cat isn't calm with grooming or shaving. She gets very aggressive and will attack. I had to unfortunately take to veterinary and they couldn't handle her so they have to sedate her. I hate this. I wish there was an easier way

I have a medium-haired cat with matted fur by her butt and tail area. I was told olive oil makes the mats fall right out and they did the first time but the second time they came back, it didn't work. So my option left to do is to shave her back area. She's a very skittish running away cat... she doesn't like certain sounds either so I don't think she would stay if I turned the shaver on. I don't wanna spend a lot of money at the groomers... do you recommend getting a sedative pill and then I can shave the cat while she's sleeping?

Okay, but how do you prevent the hair from folding under the shaver, like I can pass my shaver over the cat 100 times and it doesn't pick up any much or any hair at all. Even without the guards I have to grab tufts of hair and push them into the shaver for them to get shaved. My shaver is something that looks the same as yours.

It's so hard to do if you're not a professional. I have a white cat with fine fur but she sheds a lot. When he had an ultrasound they shaved his stomach area and the shedding was so much less, so I thought well I'll try it. I used a guard with the longest teeth but wasn't sure which one to use, long or short teeth? He lets me do it a little while I give him treats,sometimes he's better and sometimes not! Your cat looks fine!

have shorthaired cat but he is 13-14 years and will not shed in own he sheds but most stays in under coat and takes weeks to brush fully out as he hates comb and vet likes to check his skin so have appointment around now and I shave him down to point that he looks like lion he is orange but most of time I end up having to go extra short when he does have skin problems so he gets buzz cut just enough hair to cover skin so I can put on cream and medicine without hair getting in way but as I said he looks like lion when no problems he is less angry at trimmer than brush weirdly can get it don in two days sometimes one day if he gets plenty catnip and catnip spray and oil as he stares into the abyss I shave him but he is now onto me and looks at me all like I am suspicious but once it starts he zonks guess it is buzzing vibrations also tried food and treats but he is not food motivated he loves gravy and catnip tea but not enough to get brushed first time to do it myself as he mutilated all the grooms so yep then had a relative do it but he moved away to Florida to retire probably will be back fast he hates snakes and lizards so his choice is not smart as 99% of Florida animals seem to consist of snakes and lizards he really hates other people someone tried to break in and he tore him up so bad that he had to get about 300 stitches he tried to sue me and get him euthanized but video evidence killed that quick as my cat only attacked him in my camper never stepped out the guy even broke his leg like bone out of leg type and did not include the stitches for that but if I invite you and tell him the safe word he won't attack just stare at you
