This probably the most helpful video I've seen for understanding how to change gears and which gear range to use in a given situation. Great job!

My notes: Right Shifter - 1&2 - low, easiest, for starting off and climbing steep hills 3,4&5 - mid range, cruising, like single speed 6&7 - fastest gears, high speed, more resistance Left Shifter - 1 - low range for 1&2 2 - medium range, any gear, standard range you'll keep it at 3 - high range, for 3,4,5,6,&7 for high speeds, steep hills, double speeds

A big thank you for that tutorial. Hands down this is the most educational and easy to understand video i have come across. I will no longer be clicking the 2 side handle gears mindlessly now!

My last bike had three gears, my new one has 7 + three on left . i needed this type of video to get my head around the complexity of riding a bike, which people say , you can never forget, I suggest you really can forget, but you can get catch up with videos like this.

Got a bike yesterday, and hadn't previously ridden one in over 20 years. Went out for a quick journey today, and quickly realised i didn't really understand my 21 gear beast. This video helped massively. At least i now know what im doing when i go on it again tomorrow, cheers.

I've often wondered about this front gear set. It is for special conditions.... set in the center for flat ground, and shifted to the larger gear for 30mph+ traveling. Set on the smaller front gear for greater climbing power.

I've watched every video I could find on proper gear usage and this (by far) was the most informative and clearly stated. Thank you.

This is better explained than other videos I have seen. Shimano gears is what I operate on. derailer 1-3 with a 7 speed mountain bike.
