@@sewaldodiy Which method, according to your experience is better? Using 1/4 elastic or using elastic thread on bobbin case? And does using elastic on bobbin case and stitching affect the machine performance? I’m using Brother LX3817G

@@exploreruniverse3463 Aesthetic wise they both look beautiful. I like to use both methods depending on the project. No, I don't notice any difference with the machine's performance. Although you will hear a faint squeaky sound when shirring but I dint have any problem at all.

I have used both techniques: 1) Elastic "thread" in the bobbin/regular thread matching weight and correct needle type/size on top, 6-8 rows 1/4" apart or... 2) 1/8" soft, flat elastic on wrong side of fabric with correct needle and fabric weight/matching regular thread in both bobbin case and on top, 6-8 rows 1/4" apart.I prefer second method. The less space between rows, the more stretch, so 1/4" perfect for me! It is fast and so easy to produce pro results. 😊

Thank you I will try it. I was practicing the other day the beginning doesn't gather properly, the middle part where it gathered was beautiful.
@TheJudeJane
@TheJudeJane 4 жыл бұрын
SEW ALDO Use a ZIGZAG stitch to encase the 1/8" flat elastic, but to sew with elastic (thread) in the bobbin use a STRAIGHT stitch. Either way, the elastic is always sewn on the WRONG side of the fabric.

You have to stretch the elastic as you sew.

Hello this was Soo extremely useful. But I want to know about how much elastic was used for a top or how to measure it. Thanks
@sewaldodiy
@sewaldodiy 4 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! According to my estimate the elastic measurement is half the width of the fabric.
