How to shoot a choked muzzleloading shotgun

on todays video I take out my Pedersoli choked side bu side shotgun. a choked muzzleloading shotgun has to be loaded differently and I show a few techniques. this shotgun was made in the 90s and may be factory made by Pedersoli or could be a custom made piece.

You are having way too much fun and thanks for sharing! I have done an awful lot of patterning with vintage muzzle loading shotguns and have read a great deal from those ole timers who used them to put food on the table....so, this is not criticism but food for thought. The black powder of choice for best patterns in 12 gauge and 10 gauge shotguns is 1FG. You are absolutely correct to use cards over the powder and no heavy nitro card or fiber cushion wad...and good for you. Secondly, a square load is not usually the best for muzzle loaders...but more shot then powder. Third, forget the chrono....get the pattern tighter and more even. first and then check the speed. Old timers with no technology used to check for a killing loading by using a soup or bean can....if the load penetrated both sides at 25 yards it was a killer. I also use a wad of wasp nest packed tightly over the powder followed by two stiff cards cut from waxed milk cartons....then the shot and then a card over the top. Good patters out to 25 yards with no choke. Also, google VM Starr, the man for correct loading of muzzle loaders.....take care and enjoy. Those removable choked barrels are pretty cool! Never heard of that on a muzzleloader . I have a Pedersoli 20 gauge sxs (no removable choked lol) and I love it. Looks like ur getting urs dialed in pretty good 👍

i have the same gun and have regular choke tube improved through full , they screw in flush with the barrels

I have seen the stock Pedersoli tubes and see that they are essentially flush fitting . I still haven’t figured out if this is a custom built or a stock Pedersoli choked shotgun. I haven’t taken the time and had the threads measured so I can decide if it is stock or not. I took it to a gunsmith and he said it appears that it was lined. The internal dimensions are .700. It takes 12 gauge cards just fine. I would think with the way how these tubes are made they at least are custom. It’s choked to .640. That’s an extra full choke

I just purchased a new 10ga sxs waterfowl pedersoli ... It came with modified cylinders but still looking to get it choked tighter
