The egos in the tactics world are enormous. As a younger guy in that world I definitely had one. Regardless of how you feel about Lucas. Who admittedly gets a-lot of flak for walking the line of tactics versus performance shooting, you CANNOT deny that this quality of instruction and production value of these videos isn’t a huge benefit to the gun community. If I had these type of information when I first started shooting in 2008 I would have accelerated my learning curve tremendously! I appreciate this content, keep it up dude!

Excellent tips on gun control. Some I didn't even know and this is as thorough as you could ever possibly get in an hour, nevermind 10 minutes. You covered everything from jerking and heeling the trigger to recoil anticipation, trigger wall, there's just so much packed into this, it's fantastic and should be mandatory watching for quick and good gun handling. Stellar job, love the close up examples too, they really hit the mark in terms of what happens in slow motion.

As an NRA instructor sadly I agree that many have huge egos and are not good teachers. In my experience the biggest thing you can do as an instructor is make the learning experience as unintimidating as possible. It angers me when students tell me other instructors were more intent on showing how much they know versus connecting with the students and making it a fun learning experience. This video is a great example of how easy information can be to convey.

@@rickr.3558 I'm an NRA instructor also but I have never actually given an NRA class. They want you to take way too much time going into stupid nuances that do not matter. Why spend 4 hours in a classroom when you can do a crash course right there at the table and start shooting immediately? Don't over load them with information and get the initial fears of them out of the way as soon as possible to they can start having fun

Taught shooting at a BSA camp for years as a youth instructor, went to become the director and needed the NRA trainer certs. I knew more than the old fudd "instructors" who just read from the fucking power point. They got salty about that, especially when I would disagree with something and then state why and my experiences to back up what I said. They would just fall back to the "that's not the way we teach it". They got extra salty when I was able to help the other participants on the range more than they could. The one instructor was cool though, he was a younger fellow though not as young as myself and he kinda followed me around just watching what I was doing and learning himself lol

Love the content. Been watching a lot of your videos lately and started to practice dry firing and would love to see a video of the proper way to grab both pistol and rifle magazines like you do in your speed reloads. Since it’s something new to me and probably a lot of others, practicing something incorrectly will not give the best results possible. Yes it seems simple, but like this video so does shooting a pistol to a lot of people, but practice makes perfect and perfect practice is the best way to do it. Thanks!

HickLife The point of my comment is that if I can get to the point I’m at, through just watching videos and practicing, anyone can do it. I didn’t mean I’m a phenomenal shooter because I beat some people at a class (it was a 2 day pistol course with people who genuinely wanted to better themselves). There were some guys there who had taken 8+ classes but they were still getting beat. I just don’t want people to waste money on tons of classes when they could spend that money on ammo, which has a better return on investment in my opinion.

No pyrotechnics. They're used for manipulation training and dry-fire. Commonly called Snap Caps.

Brother/ there is no better teacher then to practice, practice what you’ve learned, record yourself if alone to see if your repeating your errors. REMEMBER CARDBOARD OR PAPER TARGETS DOESNT SHOOT BACK, MISFIRES , etcDONT GIVE YOU A FREE PASS, drill like your life depends on it. I remember the best Sgt/ Head Range Master I’ve ever meet Korean War Vet EOD, , Rangmaster, Sgt. Don Blain, now gone to the Ultimate Range in the sky, was teaching 30 of us revolver Dinasores to transition to our first Auto Loader,to Dept issue Beretta 40 Cal. Couple of us Cop Students were arguing about Jambs ,reliability etc, FINALLY SGT SNAPPED, “ Listen you shit for brains, Bad guy don’t care if YOUR SHOT 5 TIMES, EYE BALL FALLING Out , LEG MISSING , Shooting arm shot to shit , YOU AND YOUR GUN HAVE TO get BACK INTO THE FIGHT OR YOUR GONNA DIE you DUMB FUCK, UNDERSTAND. “ Dinasores responded, Sir, Yes Sir.! I NEVER FOFGOT THAT AFTER 34 YEARS OF LE Street Patrol. Please remember from us old fucks. PS Turn your dumb ass phone off when shooting.

Dude, you've got a couple of videos that I consider the Gold Standard of explanation of a concept or mechanic that I always refer people to in order to help them understand something. They are simple, succinct, but not condescending and those are essential characteristics to helping people understand something. Your "How to shoot if you're cross eye dominant" is one and this one is definitely another that I will use to refer new or relatively new shooters to to help them understand. Well done!

In a way it seems like trainers are creating their own demise by putting so much information online for free. You can learn just about anything online. Classes are becoming more like just "doctor checkups" so someone trained can watch you and provide specific feedback you might not get on your own.

Useful information. When I bought my first pistol, I elected to take an introductory training/safety course as well. The stance technique they taught us was the one where you lock both your arms out, and roll your elbows inward just a little. I understood how it would work for some people, but I found it both uncomfortable and not super effective. As I spent more and more time in the range practicing, I found myself gravitating more towards the stance detailed here, where you keep a slight bend in your arms to absorb the shock. I've found it translates to less overall body movement, and I can hold my arms in place much more easily when my elbows aren't locked.

I personally had an old school instructor teach me a lot of things, but I learned over time that it was the wrong way. It's very refreshing to watch this video and see that I'm doing things the correct way currently, and our generation is able to remaster the technique to strive for perfection. Nice job Lucas!
