That was exactly what I was thinking. It's the small details that make all the difference. Sometimes you put hours of work into the smallest segment of film and feel it goes unnoticed but as you say, it's those small things that really bring work to the next level.

It’s so refreshing to see a great film without any crazy transitions just pure storytelling. I was about to upgrade the 10-18 mm and 50 mm 1.8 to 👉🏼 10-22 mm and 50mm 1.4 .... Thanks James I just saved 1K!

I chose to be a director for a short film project as a student at drama school. We all volunteered for different roles. People got jealous. I guess. I turned up to my shoot with a storyboard & I got bullied for it. The students told me “This isn’t helpful, this is what you’d want it to look like when you edit it together but tells me nothing that helps us today”. Glad I’m watching this today, confirming I wasn’t an idiot for drawing my shots and bringing them to our shoot. I pretended to discard my drawings but i shot them in the way I drew them anyway 😂

There's one other something that I think is incredibly important - affirming "non actors" while filming. You didn't necessarily touch on it in this video, but you demonstrated it INCREDIBLY WELL in the BTS. I think it's something that's easy to forget about when you're in the moment trying to create a film and are stressing about things going wrong, but constantly giving feedback to the actor(s) is so key!

Just stumbled across this video! Your shots look amazing in the short film! I love watching behind the scenes videos! They’re so inspiring. And I’m right there with you when it comes to just using whatever gear or locations you’ve got on hand to tell a story. That’s probably my favorite part about filmmaking - you can make the small and seemingly ordinary or unnoticeable things in life become something amazing and cinematic. Thanks for sharing!

Honest so so inspired, I always believed that the most important thing in life is the vision, creativity and the art of things, and not the gear, this is truly embodying that. everything looks so cinematic and filmic, as if you shot it all on a RED or something and used anamorphic lenses. I love the fact that you can get such a professional polished film from your pure talent and use of the gear you have. So refreshing to see someone with an idea in their head and just filming it with whatever equipment they have, and showing how they did it, rather than talking about gear and sponsors the whole time.
