Great tips, dude! Even since 3 years back. I especially like that whip handheld transition ideas, forwards and backwards and then switching while editing. And i am not alone here. Man! When i watched the initial sequence before explanation i was sure you did speed ramping in the edit. And, amigo, you look soooo mature today in copmare with this video. What a transition! Only in 3 years. Ever thought of a time laps of your own evolution? 😊

Is there any video you explaining to make a smoothness between transitions? I am not talking about the in camera-transition, but the way you handle your camera movement. For example you shoot one cut with dolly-in motion with a bit of left rotation and you do the same for following cut. Or an another example would be you shooting a tree from bottom to top with left rotation and the following cut, you do the same movement to make the transition smooth.

Great information here Joris. I'm trying to do more video to add to my landscape photography. You mention to not edit a 60 FPS video on a 60 FPS timeline. I understand why. So what Frame rate time line do you use? If I'm absorbing anything here I'm going to say 120. Does this also apply to 24 and 120 FPS shot video? Thank you for putting this out there. This old dog is still trying to learn some new tricks.

3:17 what does it mean? 60 FPS not to edit on 60 FPS timeline in real time footage? How does it stand for example in Premiere Pro? Amazing video btw! :)
@JorisHermans
@JorisHermans 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! So, I always edit on a 24fps timeline. That means that I shoot 24fps for real time footage and whenever I shoot 60 or 120fps, it's to use as slow motion.
@arnaspanic
@arnaspanic 3 жыл бұрын
@@JorisHermans So when I open Premiero Pro I can choose the timeline's FPS count? If yes then if I have 24 fps and 60 fps footage that I want to use in the same project (60 fps only for slow motions) I can still do it right?
@JorisHermans
@JorisHermans 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course! You could even use the 60fps as real time footage because Premiere will just remove frames to make it look like 24fps.

How do you speed up and slow down the footage when shooting at 60fps? I presume you are in a 24fps timeline? When I bring 60 fps into a 24fps timeline it looks choppy if it isn't slowed down. So how did you get the fast motions not to look choppy? Hope that question makes sense....
@JorisHermans
@JorisHermans 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Nicholas! Are you working on Davinci Resolve?
@NikoRoma
@NikoRoma 3 жыл бұрын
Joris Hermans Hi Joris, yes I’ve just recently downloaded it but haven’t gotten too deep yet. I’m fairly new to video and trying to understand the speed ramps and such so that I can better plan which frame rates to use at different times.
@JorisHermans
@JorisHermans 3 жыл бұрын
Ok, so working on a 24fps timeline, right-click on the 60fps clip and open Clip Attributes and set the fps there to 24. The clip should now be in smooth slow motion and if you want you can speed it up again by right-clicking and opening Clip Speed. For speed ramping you should open Retime Controls.
@NikoRoma
@NikoRoma 3 жыл бұрын
Joris Hermans yes, I got that, but when it’s not at 24fps it’s jittery because when a 60fps clip is put in a 24fps timeline without slowing down, it’s removing frames to fit the timeline. I didn’t know if there was something I was missing. Your video doesn’t look choppy when it’s fast. Is there a specific rate you speed it up to? Or just eyeing it to what’s pleasing? Really appreciate the quick responses by the way!
