There are a lot of issues with Star Wars these days and while it's not 100% on one person, it's hard not to point the finger at the head of Lucas Film, Kathleen Kennedy. Unfortunately, the problems continue with The Acolyte

Good points and discussion that captures it perfectly, fans don't always just want to hate for no reason, but it's really like, my goodness the bag is being fumbled so incredibly hard, when it should be quite basic / easy to do a decent job or show the proper respect to the universe / characters. And yea the sheer arrogance from the higher ups is crazy

Absolutely! It truly is simple. No one is asking for anything other than a solid and respectful star war wars project that fans recognize as genuine. It’s a simple fix really but it seems like the message isn’t getting to them. The arrogance astounds me honestly haha Thanks for the comment!

KK waved her gender as a flag using "The Force Is Female" as a Star Wars slogan. IMHO she set that particular parameter with the brand by making that statement fair game for criticizing it. With the actors not knowing lore, yes they need to really do their research but the assistants or handlers that work for Lucasfilm/Disney should also have rudimentary knowledge of the material to catch them when they fall. Total failure on their part of letting that actor cook twice with his Anakin/Death Star statement

Exactly! She showed us clearly what she wanted to do with that statement and to her credit, she delivered that but the problem is it doesn’t resonate at all with Star Wars fans. It’s sad to see that she would rather put her needs and wants in front of what the paying customers want. Reminds me a bit of the snakes and sparklers scene in Joe dirt “it’s not what you like, it’s the consumer.” Haha Yeah I think it’s shocking that not one PR person corrected him after the first mess up, I mean no one told him? Not one person on that payroll?

The shirtless Jedi and him being shown as not as smart led me right back to Chris Hemsworth in Ghostbusters, eye candy or men are stupid for the "Force is Female" crowd. Which even that is wrong it isn't the force to them its the thread right? I do get putting your spin/take on a franchise but you can't 180 it all and expect all fans to be okay with it. You will never make 100% of people, especially nerd/geek culture, happy. But maybe they do expect us to take what they give us without complaint, we've seen in not just Disney the studios think we're dumb and will accept anything they put out. I enjoy Star Wars, Marvel, etc but never one of the "this changed my life" types so I guess we'll see where this goes. I don't plan on finishing watching the Acolyte as that will just show them positive numbers which is the metric they care about for ad rev, but the next thing they put out I will give it a chance as I have everything else Star Wars.

Oh man the Chris hemsworth in ghostbusters was spot on! Exactly the same type of character, did nothing for the show exact be eye candy and dumb! I think that is the issue, I think Disney came into Star Wars thinking that it was a built in audience and whatever they put out, fans will like and they will therefore make money automatically but that was proven wrong eventually, sort of the same way the MCU sort of went down a bit, because they thought they could only make hits. It’s a bit disrespectful to the audience to think and or expect us to just sit down, shut up, take it and ask for more after. I’m a fan of theses geek properties too but it’s a bummer to see them suffer

The slogan is "The force is Female" though, not "The Force is Everyone". Sorry, men, but KK doesn't want you. Sure, they want your money, but not you.

Exactly! The horrible sad truth. But it Ms such an odd way to market Star Wars as a lot of the audience is male. What gets me now is that they’ll pull these stunts and then blame the male audience for a series or movie for flopping. I mean what did you think was going to happen?

Haha well I wouldn’t say it’s because they are women, but I think it’s because it’s the type of woman Kathleen Kennedy is and by default the types of women she puts in charge of her projects. I think there are a lot of women that can tell good stories, just not the ones that have been chosen for Star Wars lol

@@thegotspodi mean, cmon though. The perspectives of men and women, what they like generally… I gave the women stuff a chance and they just dont stick the landing on a primarily man product. I imagine not a lot of men are capable of doing the barbie sequel… and thats ok. We need to stop forcing it. You can tell the diversity hiring isnt just on-screen. There are clearly people hired based on looks over what they can bring to star wars. Because again, Star wars is mainly a man thing.
