Any tips on popping up on to the deck out of a quarter? I can't seem to figure out weight distribution between front and back foot and get stuck basically, I know the speed is there, just can't wrap my head around it.

Yes. Can attest to this being quite dangerous with inward heelflips and heelflips in general as well. I accidentally landed a bailed heelflip to my surprise but I wasn’t expecting to hit board so I slipped out mad hard. Haha

Finally learned roll-ins this last week. Noping first, then pool, then finally metal coping. Been 6 months of thinking about it and it ended up being relatively easy. The tips in this video helped relax my mind before I went!

A BS feeble grind would be a good tip trick. I'd like to do them in the bowl on pool coping. It seems to be a safer trick than a smith grind as you are within the transition more. Hello from New Zealand, thank you for the great content!

Been working on Five O for over 4 months now. Making only very slow progress. I managed only twice to do it right. There is so much to it. The speed, the entry angle, putting all weight on the back foot, the proper lock-in of the heel-wheel, the amount of hanging into the transition, the amount of shoulder turning from start to end. I find this so much more difficult than slash-grinds. Actually, by trying to master Five-O's, i am now much more "radical" on the slash grinds. I dare to make the slash over a wider carve, and sort of manual it. I will not rest until i have the Five-O, no matter how long it takes. Your tip to conceptualize the grind is very appealing. I am going to try that on my next session. Thanx a lot for this how-to, very well explained!

Great tips and a slightly different perspective than Caruso and Degros. Seems more possible to do it the way you have described. Of course i may feel differently next time i go to actually try it lol. Such a beautiful trick though with a surf aesthetic

i learnt slash grinds first. Weight distribution and going more heel heavy was key for unlocking it for me. But frontside 5-0 i find more tricky.... hope to get it soon.

At around the 5 min mark you talk about rolling in with speed. I really relate to that. I’ve been rolling in to a certain spot for a few weeks without issue, but I’m usually already going pretty fast. Yesterday I stopped to chit chat with some guys near the ledge and when I took off to continue my run I totally slipped backwards and sprained my wrist pretty bad. Not having that speed slowed everything down and interrupted my confidence.

What helped me was jumping off from the top of the ramp after you get on the coping then just build up the confidence to go for it. It helps so much with getting used to the motions.
