I've had requests on how to skin an otter so here is a simple way I skin my otters without the use of a skinning machine so anyone can relate to it.

Thanks for putting this up! I trapped my first otter in February, and it'll be the first animal I attempt to put up that is skinned cased. This was a very helpful video, thanks!

Thank you for the instruction! It's been a while since I trapped & skinned Muskrats in my early teens. About 50 a season then. Just found a large Male. Unfortunately, hit by a car. No sign of trauma surprisingly! Can't see him just rot away, he was a beautiful animal. So we'll stretch & tan him for posterity!

The best tasting wild game meat I ever had was from a otter!! It depends on water quality and what the otter was eating as I had others not so good. I put in a crockpot like I do my beaver but was blown away by that otter taste.

That's a knoife! Gotter good and sharp though. I've seen videos of guys putting their knee on the hide up stream of their hand and put their weight down on it to help pull the hide down. Helped me with lynx for sure. Be safe out there, thanks for sharing!

Great video . and you don't always need a skinning machine . old school is the best way , it keeps you in touch . great job , and I hope you don't feed that to your dogs it will make them sick. take care.
