Skin cycle is popular because ppls are finally only using products they maybe only need. 1. Cleanser 2. Moisturizer 3. Sunscreen 4. Retinoid 5. Aha / bha ( or maybe combination of it ) That's all you need.

I had a a female resident in a long term facility assisted living who passed in her sleep at age 105. She maintained the same skin care regimen twice a day for , as she stated ," as long as I can remember." She cleansed her face twice a day ( to remove the make up she applied before going to lunch and dinner)with Ponds Cold Cream then applied a thin film of Vaseline. She only had a few wrinkles around her eyes. Good skin care or good genes?

Has anyone ever heard that your hair care products may mess with your skin? Especially if you have long hair that touches your face? I recently changed the products I use and I'm not even through with 1 small bottle of the shampoo/conditioner set but I've noticed a big difference in my skin. Its less red, less acne, the acne that does happen is smaller and heals faster, and I don't feel so oily all the time.
@Anne_Onymous
@Anne_Onymous Жыл бұрын
If the hair care product was messing with your skin... I would expect your scalp to be the worst. And for only skin the hair is touching a lot to be affected, with a correlation between frequency and severity (so probably neck being the second worst).
@alternativeprincess4783
@alternativeprincess4783 Жыл бұрын
@@Anne_Onymous I'm guessing, at least in my case, oils are actually good for hair and the scalp if it's too dry but not so good for other skin. I had been using hair care that had a few different oils in it. My hair is usually in a ponytail at the crown of my head so it was always falling down onto my cheeks, which is where the worst of the acne was. Idk, maybe it's a complete coincidence, but I remember hearing that hair care can cause acne and when I switched what I used on my hair, my skin cleared up. That's the only thing I changed so if it wasn't that idk what it could be
@user-jb6sh4zw6f
@user-jb6sh4zw6f Жыл бұрын
Absolutely it makes a difference because they can even cause you back acne or body acne. So after you conditioner your hair you should always clean your body of any leftover residues of your hair products.
@shendisackett
@shendisackett Жыл бұрын
They do affect your skin in the areas they come into contact with, this is why they recommend you don't wash your face in the shower, as you are probably not as thorough and some of the conditioner may stay on the skin around your hairline. That is compared to washing your face in front of a mirror so you know you went right up to the hairline. I also read it's because some people wash their face and then their hair, so wrong order, which again leaves conditioner on the skin. The conditioner can then cause breakouts. It wouldn't affect your whole face though, unless you had a bad reaction to a product, that happened to me and was a nightmare to treat. I had bumps on my scalp, the doctor thinks one burst under the skin causing an infection to spread and it went onto my face and neck. It took almost 2 years of treatment to clear my skin and left my scalp very sensitive. So I am very careful about the products I use now.

Hair products can absolutely cause acne if the hair makes contact with your skin. Found out the hard way with coconut oil - my regular hair oil (mustard) had run out and my mom had bought coconut instead. Few days later and I got horrible acne on my back, neck, shoulders, sides of face, and especially scalp ☹️ It was an incredibly painful experience

I just started a Differen treatment for tiny cysts on my chin. I should have reread the instructions, because I am dealing with lots of skin flaking. My Dr did tell me I would have peeling. I didn't know that I was only suppose apply it every other day to 3rd day, I did it for 3 or 4 days straight. It is working, I just need to heal my skin before doing it properly.
@Anne_Onymous
@Anne_Onymous Жыл бұрын
Everyone is different. What one person can tolerate, another can't. Just do whatever schedule your skin allows atm. Fine flaking is fine but burning, pain, or redness means you need to slow down. Slowing down does not mean to take a few days to heal, then try again. It means to take a few days to heal, then increase the application intervals by 1 day.

Is it really letting your skin "rest" if you're still cleansing it every day?? My skin seems to do best when mostly left alone. Glycolic acid face wash 2x/week, & vit C serum + retinol cream every 2-4 nights. I know I won't be 34 & looking 24 forever, so I want to be proactive about skincare, but everything just makes my skin dry & break out, so Idk if I should try to fix what doesn't seem broken 🤷‍♀️ (Not saying I have amazing skin, dermatillamania is a b1tch. But I don't get spots unless I pick at my skin, & people still assume I'm 10 years younger, so I'm doing ok 🤷‍♀️)

My grandma (father's side of the family), swore, by ponds, um,,, and lakes, hills, mountains,,, oh the language! No. just kidding. She never swore and would brush our teeth with bar soap if We swore. She lived to be 91. Would have done better, had she not dealt with strokes and horrible blood pressure and cholesterol medications that made her develop Alzheimer's, though she didn't have that. She had a diet of her time, which was all natural. I don't know what led to her strokes, unless it was just genetics. She did use Pond's, sometimes. I never saw her use it, though it was in her bathroom cabinet. She had fine looking skin for the most part. My sister in law's grandmother lived to around 98. Italian, and had really nice skin till the end. I don't know if it is more of genetics, or the Italian diet that contributed to her complexion. Lifestyles are utmost important. For me, personally, why I'm here, is I am almost 60. My facial appearance had hard times. Stress, sun damage, small engine shop chemicals, compounds, exhausts, emissions sure didn't help, medications too. So I am looking for something I can do to "recover", if you will. Remove some deep smoker's line (though I never smoked). I want to look better for my age, again.

No you have to use tretinoin every day. Same with prescription azelaic acid. If you’re too sensitive have your dermatologist prescribe other actives. Otherwise, you’re just wasting money. Also remember to never exfoliate more than 2/3x a week or don’t at all if you’re using a retinol. Just use less products in your routine and aim for prescription. All these millions of actives that you “have” to use are nothing more than a cash grab.

Do you take fish oil? ...snakeoil was literally promoted for the same properties. It's omega 3. So if you don't think that fish oil is silly...

I feel like that would destroy my face. My skin is so sensitive that even natural moisturizers make my face red and dry. Now if my face is dry I just use shea butter.
