Hey I'm a super new swimmer, like 3 weeks. I've never even thought about snorkeling.I wish they offered classes where I live in north Texas. I wish I could be learning to snorkel this winter. This looks like a blast.

It "IS" a blast! I just bought my Son a Sea View 180° snorkeling mask and he's excelling better than I ever did at his age. This mask/snorkel combination is great! Get one of these and you'll do fine and enjoy snorkeling fully! :)

today I just bought my fins for snorkeling and iam so excited to try them out in the ocean in outer banks north Carolina :) on my trip which iam at right now can't wait to try them tommrrow. tonight iam trying them out at the pool :) I will probably be use to them cause swim in fins before but not in ocean. so excited ive been exploring the ocean a lot so far in my outer banks north Carolina trip so farr in snorkeling :) its been so cool and so much fun :)

I grew up near the sea, had an old school mask with aluminum tube for breathing and I used it to swim with my face down in the water and then dive 5-10 meters, while holding my breath. No one trained me for it. Now I find out that there is a thing called "snorkeling", and people get trained for it. Amazing :)

Damn you found out a month ago? Looks like you were built tougher than most today…..as soon as I get a mouth of seawater from a big wave I have to go and get a sip of freshwater because wow it feels like your throat is drying.

It was a fun video. Once you said you were there for instruction, I wasn’t expecting to be taught anything so I just enjoyed the ambiance and swimming sensations due to the fact my local pool is CLOSED because of Covid 19!

Word of advice you should try kapitiol reef snorkel it makes it so you dont have purge the snorkel because water does not get in.

I hope they talked to you about your kick. You tended toward bicycling kick wish actually makes you use more energy rather than the slow leg waves which save energy.

Do you know how to swim against the current in the sea (for example when we want to reach to the boat - the boat position is changed due to current)? Because I have been snorkeling couple times but never be able to swim against the current.. so never be able to come back to the boat without helping from my guide

+Cta2006 Fins are much easier to move through the water. I think coral shoes will make you work much harder and get tired faster.

Srividya Penukonda For the underwater shots, we simply used a Go Pro Hero 3+ Black Edition. A Sony FS100 was used for the rest of it. Thanks for the comment!

So while underwater you don't use the snorkel at all? You just hold your breath and then return to the surface for air? I see these free divers and stuff way down there in the water with there snorkel in their mouth wondering how that tube doesn't get filled with water and fill their lungs😬👀cool video btw

You aren’t supposed to keep your snorkel in your mouth when you dive because when you black out and if your jaw will snap shut to keep water out but if you have the snorkel in it allows water in and you will inhale water.

You don't NEED to have flippers, but it definitely will help you glide more easily and not get tired as fast.

Fabi F You can get a snorkel vest that will keep you near the surface when fully inflated. As you get better/more confident you can bleed off some air to go deeper. I just wouldn't go near open water without knowing how to. YMCA's offer swimming courses.

+Mohammad Waleed You have to use your tongue to block the mouthpiece of the snorkel and then blow out the water when you surface again. It takes a little practice, but will become second nature. Thanks for watching!

You CAN' T breathe when the snorkel is underwater. You just hold your breath. If you want to breathe underwater you have to get scuba-diving equipment.

You need a mask to see clearly (to keep water out of your eyes). The snorkel allows you to breath while swimming on the surface. If you see something of interest, you take a deep breath and swim down. If you swim too deep, you can get mask squeeze because you cannot equalize the mask. In SCUBA (Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus), you can do all of this, equalize the mask, and, breathe underwater. You're not dumb, many people seem to think that. Snorkeling is basically for sightseers; whereas scuba is for long-term underwater activities. Once you get good at snorkeling (and, scuba), you'll see how simple, and, fun, it all is; and, you'll forget all about your misunderstanding and our conversation here. Take care! :)
