This video will show you how to solder your Xbox One controller, consoles, rumble motors, buttons, and other broken Xbox parts that need to be repaired. This is also a skill required to fix other issues with controllers and consoles, such as red ring of death errors and stick drift.
You'll need a few things before getting started:
- 40 Watt Soldering Iron: amzn.to/2j7Lc2q
- Soldering Stand: amzn.to/2B0KeQR
- Rosin Core Solder: amzn.to/2jcnfXI
- Helping Hand with Magnifying Glass: amzn.to/2jcnfXI
- Solder Sucker: amzn.to/2BB7RyV
- Pliers (Optional, but recommended)
These are also available in kits if you want to buy everything together at once: amzn.to/48qdP1a
Step 1: Prepare your tools.
Make sure you have the right tools for the jobs and are following all precautions when soldering.
Step 2: Remove the Solder from the Circuit board
The first step is to remove solder from the Xbox One controller or console circuit board. You must clean the contacts before applying more solder.
Step 3: Tin the Wire
Tinning the wire involves placing a small amount of solder on the end of the wire to make it easier to attach to the circuit board. You don't need a whole lot here - just enough to cover the tip of the wire.
Step 4: Solder Your Wire
Soldering the wire involves placing the heated soldering iron, solder, and the wire back onto the circuit board. Be careful, and don't worry if it takes a few times.
Tips:
- Remember to use rosin core solder
- Don't leave the soldering iron on the contact for too long
- Use the side of the iron, never the tip to solder
- You can clean the tip of your soldering iron off using a wet sponge
This is the quickest and easiest way to solder your Xbox One, Xbox One controller, or other broken part.
