nice one my friend.. for the mini screw drawers, I hot glue the screw that's in that drawer to the front of the drawer. Then I can easily see what's inside. And if I need to change that screw out, I spray something cold on the glue, like a can of butane (which freezes as it boils away as a gas, making the glue brittle enough to crack off), and I can remove the glue in seconds.

Thats An Awesome Idea! Might have to steal that one for sure!

@@thinkford its hardly stealing. ideas like this should be shared. Its like trying to patent how to tie your shoelaces.. someone teaches, we learn, life is easier.

Really appreciate your sorting idea with the cans. I've got a bunch to do so your idea helps to start in broad categories and re-sort even more afterwards. Thanks!

I kinda enjoy sorting hardware. It's kinda zen like. I've got a couple of cans and bins full of nuts and bolts that I gotta sort, if I ever get the stuff that needs to be done first done.

Great! I first sort "screwish", "nailish", "boltish" and "odd". Then I do have a gauge with the holes and length, but you quickly can mostly tell by eye, to sort "screwish" into (1) thickness ie #6, 8 & 10. (2) panhead or countersink, (3) leghth

Awesome ideas, I'm really glad you shared this! Hell, before you even got to the sorting you gave me the idea of using tin cans from veggies or whatever as buckets in the garage. That's genius! Thanks for sharing!

The "junk" is probably the most expensive bin. I have organized bins for everything. Literally have 5 or 6 organizers full or every kind and size spring you could imagine. I started this way picking up extra hardware on a jobsite or dumpster diving here and there. After years of scavenging and buying from closing businesses I have a fully stocked and organized shipping container just for hardware. I rarely ever need to go to the store when building or tinkering.

This is exactly how I sort my screws. By the way, if you search online, you can find PDFs listing all the fasteners with images. I use them to make labels and print them on my laser printer.

I drink a lot of those Starbucks Frappuccinos in the glass bottles. I’m starting to use those to sort my fasteners.

There’s something oddly pleasing about the crunchy rattle sound of a parts box.

I have too many different types of screws and bolts, wondering how to best group them for the small trays? What makes most sense? Width, thread size, head, length? What combination makes most practical sense?

Amazon has clear lids to cover cans....sm,med and large

Now I have To Check Them Out! Thanks! :)

@@thinkford one thing to note....the lids did not seem expensive till the shipping was added in. I though if I doubled the order it would be worth it. The shipping charge doubled when I doubled the amount of lids. $ 5 for the lids $6 for shipping. 10 for lids 12 for shipping. I said no

Pringles has lids and maybe the lids can be paired with a can later
