Lmao yesss! It’s totally a thing. Why do we do that to ourselves? I kinda think it’s like a, I don’t wanna be rude and leave too quickly, sorta thing. Or we just don’t know how to stfu lol.

Oh wow… I never knew that only Midwesterners had those prolonged goodbyes. My wife, (originally from Baltimore), gives me such crap about how I do this all the time when we’re visiting my family and friends… She says, “Why do you say you’re gonna leave and then not leave?,” while meanwhile she’s already out in the car thinking I’m on my way out that immediately 😂 I thought maybe I just had a problem with being particularly chatty, but this is so right! We’re all doing it! Lol

@@vespista1971 Lmao that’s so funny cuz that would be my husband waiting for me in the car when I was at my moms saying bye forever. But he does the long goodbye at his dads too. Not as long but still does it 😂 I’m sure there’s other people who do it but it does seem to be a common thing in the Midwest for sure! Then there’s the Irish goodbye (we’re part Irish) and that’s when you leave a gathering without telling anyone and I think it’s to avoid the long drawn out goodbye lol.

11:11 in new zealand we have something very similar we have yea nah = no / nah yea = yes. These can then be stringed together for as long as u like depending on the individual, with the final word being the answer e.g yea nah yea = yes or as far as, yea nah, yea nah nah yea = yes. 😂😂🤙🤙

Omg that would be soooo fun! Lol. I know you northerners say plenty of things differently than me. My sister in law has a pretty thick Chicago accent (imo) and she sounds way different than me 😂

Believe it or not, I understood much of the slang maybe because some of it has been used in movies or tv shows. I gotta admit the 'Bad-tree' first one cracked me up though, I imagined him in a pickup-truck with a dead carcass strapped across the hood, toting a rifle in one hand anda can of beer in de other. 🤣🤣

Wow, I've never heard of some of those terms. Like the upper Michigan one. Have you seen the movie New in Town?? It's definitely shows how Minnesota people speak and their way of life. 😂 I do that 2 with asking for help. I say if you're not busy or if something else comes up. 😂 I remember when I was a kid and my mom would be visiting with friends and i would ask when we were leaving. She would say in a minute. An hour later. I would ask again. She would say in a few minutes. Nope. Forever 😂. I tell my son. When I'm ready to go. 😂

Hey, TE. If you can spell it and say it maybe it is a word. Aren't they all just noises we make? And do I like to have fun with local lingo? Yeah nah look absolutely! (I cringe at that one as a simple yes will do) I loved the Fargo (TV series) accent. Okay then! I'm off now! Have a great day. Yup. I'll be seein ya! Sure thing! You too. No, I don't want your money. Bye now! Hoo-roo!

You said you're from Illinois...can I take a blind guess here? Carbondale-area? Because you do have a mix of broadly Midwest with a little Southern "twang" mixed in. I used to live in Western KY and I've spent a lot of time travelling through Illinois. Used to rock climb in Shawnee National Forest, been to concerts at Pop's in East St. Louis, ran from the police in Metropolis (successfully)... Hell, I lost my virginity in Goreville, lmfao. Just wondering lol.

@@finsternis1986 lmao ran from the police in metropolis? Not Superman? 😜 I’m actually from Bloomington/Normal. But my dads family was from Kentucky so I was raised around some southerners for sure. But there’s a lot of people here in town who have even more of a twang than me. I think mine was a bit stronger as a kid tho for some reason lol. We spent a lot of time in Kentucky & Missouri when I was growing up for vacations and visiting family. The first toys r us I ever saw actually was in Kentucky!

@@ToniaElkins I've stood in front of the Superman statue numerous times. I had several friends climb up on top of it lol. Passed the "The Daily Planet" many times. Any time I talk about Metropolis, Illinois I have to bring up the fact that the "Big John" statue at the supermarket of the same name is about 3x bigger than the fucking Superman statue LOL. Also, what's up with the guy that has the Halloween house with the cobwebs and skeletons the entire year??

Hello Tonia, try to figure out the differences between Aussie states and territories vocabularies? Its an eye opener. Yeah nah is said here in Oz too mainly by bogans. By the way, not all Illinois drivers suck I dont think, I've seen a video of an Illinois lady driving and singing and she didn't seem too bad a driver. Oh yeah, that was yours recently.

@@rustyboi7256 Lol I do love to drive n sing! But i swear, yesterday I got stuck behind every horrible driver in town. They ALL wanted to go 30 mph in a 45 mph zone and nothing pisses me off more 😂

@ToniaElkins agreed, some days are worse than others in regards to terrible driving, but it can be hard to differentiate individuals from the collective. I'm sure most drivers there are fine and we only notice the ones that grab our attention by doing the stupid things like cutting us off, driving slow when we are in a hurry or like what I saw once a few years ago, transporting a live cow in the back seat of a sedan. The drivers side back window was opened and out stuck the cows head. Totally unforgettable stupidity there I think you'd agree?

@@rustyboi7256 omg a cow in a car? Wow! Poor cow. But yeah, not all Illinois drivers suck obviously but I do seem to get stuck around idiot drivers often lol. Yesterday I kept screaming in my car, OMG ITS FORTY FIVE!!!! Driving under the speed limit is just as dangerous as speeding. I feel like some people don’t get that lol

@ToniaElkins it was a sight too see and I wish I could have taken a photo of it, but yes poor cow being squished into that car. I'm guessing there were a few more choice words than just it's 45 thrown in for free too? Everyone is safest on the road when everyone is going in the same direction at the same speed, some people don't get that though. It's the same as 90k in a 100k zone in the right hand lane, (or left hand lane in your neck of the woods). So frustrating, step on it if you're in the fast lane, it's really not that hard?
@ToniaElkins

@@rustyboi7256 Hahaha I’m sure I probably threw in a couple, What the fucks, as well 😂 I get so annoyed by dumb drivers. And at one point, I thought this HAS to be a joke, cuz there were 2 lanes going the same direction and both people in front of me in each lane were going 30 instead of 45 and I couldn’t even pass them. And I know they can’t hear me so I was hoping they’d look in the mirror cuz I kept holding up 4 fingers and 5 fingers to signal to them to speed the fuck up. They never did. I probably look so crazy when these ppl make me mad lol.
