The 2022/23 Audi RS3 is now available to order - or at least place a deposit and hope you get to order in the USA.
What does it have and how much does it cost? In this video, I explain the options and what it is missing compared to the rest of the world, and then go for a high-speed drive in one!

Put a deposit down for a turbo blue w/ tech pack and black optics. No idea when it will be delivered but mid summer the earliest and most likely at the very end of the year into next year as a 2023 model. Also dissapointed that the steering wheel is round 😕. Still cant wait for delivery. Cheers mate and keep up the great video content.

As someone with that spec I agree ☝️ I think it is one of the best colours because it makes the car stand out and accentuates the design details.

mythos black paint, red stitching, and with the sport exhaust. was told it’ll be here in 3-12 months. also not disappointed that the wheel is round, but disappointed it’s not alcantara.

I'm really disappointed in the lack of red design pack. I've built my future RS3 many many times over with EU specs, and to only have green really sucks. Still debating between the tech and 5cyl of this vs a fully spec'd RS5..

Great video! The panoramic sunroof is actually standard on all US spec RS3s!

I stand corrected it does show the panoramic sunroof in the standard spec although you would think it would get a mention! I have edited the video to remove it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Mine arrives in the USA next month, July 2022. That said, it's base spec but has the optional Tango Red Metallic paint finish. Was lucky enough to pull some strings. You can wait to spec it to suite, but I didn't want to wait 4-10 months.

I’m in Fremont California USA The Audi dealership here since being top three sellers in California got 2 order allocations and two cars specked out from Germany sent to them. The two order allocations hopefully will start to get built in June the other two sent from Germany Audi to audi Fremont had no say in the spec so they don’t know how they will arrive in June .I am so lucky to write that I am that second allocation but I gave them my $5000 deposit back in October 2021.

72,000 with taxes can’t get around sales tax all boxes ticked except ceramic brakes, RS green design and trofeo tires wanted red rs design at least able to spec red stitching Wanted kemora Gray but contrast was more important so I went with glacier white I know Kemora has some contrast but in the shade and at night pretty much none ; what do you think about that?

I agree about the contrast. I am not a white car fan myself but the sportback I did a video on in white looked great. I would be very interested to find out how those tyres perform as they are not an option in the UK.

My Audi salesman said those Trofeo tires last about 5000 miles ( not tracking, normal miles) I didn’t get them. I wish I had the guts to get the turbo blue like you for the contrast, I had some trouble getting white only because about 27% of cars in us are white but this being a RS model should still stand out even so since it has so much black contrast.

I've gone with Mythos Black, Sport exhaust, Tech pack, Dynamic pack, and red stitching for the seats. I'm so excited! Problem I have with American spec is no flat bottom option and Mythos black won't let me black out the badging. :(

You can buy some black badges and make that change yourself - and the flat-bottom problem faces everyone who wants one of these cars.

@@TechInTheCar Yeah I'm already looking around for the badges and some nice black wheels to finish it up. R44 performance has a flat bottom steering wheel for the 8y RS3 I'm just skeptical of if it would work with the adaptive cruise control.

My understanding of the steering wheel situation is there is a sensor box in the round RS3 wheel which connects to capacitive sensors which can feel you touching the wheel. These are not on the flat bottom wheel as far as we know (but no one has opened up a flat bottom RS3 8Y wheel to check) which is why Audi doesn’t allow the lane assist on that wheel. The R44 wheel potentially has space for the sensor box BUT you would have to code some of the safety features to be OFF. I don’t particularly want to lose safety features to have a flat-bottom wheel. I am pretty confident at some point Audi will make a steering wheel with those sensors and flat bottom but we may have to wait for the next brand new RS car to get it and then hope that it fits the RS3.

ordered similar but without the dynamic pack. the audi dealership told me they would just switch out the badges for black ones when it arrives 🤷‍♂️

I ordered a Daytona gray with the tech package. I really only wanted the upgraded sound system but we can’t just choose that separately in the us. I’m going to be doing upgrades of my own so I didn’t think any of the other specs are worth it. I’m just happy that the opf isn’t on us cars cause I want to upgrade the exhaust as soon as possible

Just ordered mine in the UK. Went for the Vorsprung, Mythos Black, Dynamic Pack. I’m gutted you can’t get the black wheels and the flat bottomed steering wheel, the only way to do it is to lose the Pan Roof and go for the carbon edition. I’m sure I’ll get over it though 😂

I live in california and my Audi dealer told me they have two RS3 (one red one blue) scheduled to arrive next month. I only want my car in white color therefore I ask them if we can put a deposit and then customize build one but they still told me not available?

These cars are still almost impossible to get in Europe. If you try to order one now it will be middle of next year at least. If you want it then I would get one of the cars coming. My favourite is Blue!

Honestly it's kinda disappointing to see they don't offer the red design package or the flat bottom steering wheel here in the US. I had that in mind for how I'd spec one since the car was first announced

I agree - I would have loved the red design pack. But if I was to have the option of green here I would spec my car with it as I think it really lifts the interior.

Green design pack in us deletes ambient light that crosses dashboard ,at night set it on red we’ll look amazing

The design pack and the top trims in the EU all delete the dash ambient, only the bottom trim has it here.

According to the configurator, opting for the Design package deletes the ambient lighting in the US as well. Danny makes a good suggestion tho with using the dash ambient lighting as a replacement of sorts for the colored trim

I’m going to dye the dinámica on the side of the sport seats red,put red pin stripe tape on vents, red sidings for steering wheel and maybe some more red tape for center marker since cannot spec RS design or flat wheel .Evil GT had his seat belts replaced with green ones( didn’t like it though), me probably going to use red permanent marker on sides of seat belts.

I'm in Australia and you can order both red or Green interior pack. The only thing missing as of now is 360 camera and alcantara flat bottom steering wheel. Shockingly they still don't have this car on our shores yet. Locked borders to blame for this.

In the U.K. no design packs at all! The flat bottom wheel issue is down to the sensors but it is annoying. You have a good selection of options there. The 360 camera was removed from the U.K. top trim before builds started. Are there any deliveries yet in Australia?

So in the US, I was told when talking to my Audi rep that it could up to $10,000 for a loaded model. That said, most dealerships will receive base or most standard RS3s. You'd have to wait to custom order, but wait times are 4-10 months

I think that a bright colour looks best - it accentuates the body work and the black front grille.

But they are not capacitive sensors - they are torque based. This is a new type of system and the RS3 is one of the first to have it.

You can test this - if you can simply tap the wheel when it asks you to grab it then it is the new capacitive technology. If you have to physically move the wheel then its the old type.

Not sure the reason the flat bottomed steering wheel doesn’t have the sensors cause I believe some of the other RS models that have a flat bottomed wheel do have the sensors and some people are installing these flat bottomed wheels from other RS models in their car

That is the reason. This is a bit unclear - first of all only if you have the driver assistance features - which appear to be standard do you get the round wheel. In Europe if you select a car without them you get a flat wheel. Will a flat bottom wheel work without the sensors on a car with assistance features? Some people say yes. Some people say no. Not clear.

@@TechInTheCar I’m not up to speed whether other RS models that have that driver assistance have the flat bottomed wheel but from what I was reading in forums people have taken flat bottom wheels from other RS models which do have the assistance and fitted those wheels to their RS3

It’s not that simple. There are no flat bottom wheels with the capacitive sensors on the new RS3. You can “hack it” and turn off any safety features that require those sensors but what I want is simply a fully operational flat bottom wheel.

@@TechInTheCar I think most owners want the fully functioning flat bottomed wheel and in time there will be wheels available to do that, from what I’m reading around the place people are looking at the RS6 and RS7 wheels as they are flat bottomed and have the adaptive cruise control. You might know these models better than me but that’s what I’m hearing from others

Those models don’t use the latest system the RS3 has. It is all ‘torque’ based which means any force used will allow the lane assist to work and it doesn’t require sensors like on the RS3. So you have to turn off some of those safety features to make that wheel work without error messages. I am sure Audi will bring a flat bottom wheel eventually with those sensors but I have a feeling the silicon shortage may be effecting this.

Order banks have opened but orders are on a waiting list right now. Audi hasn't started actually pulling orders and building yet, but it is possible for the dealer to submit an order for you. I submitted mine last week. I suggest going to another dealership assuming there is no wait list. My dealer had about 30 people on the wait list and they submit orders in waitlist order. Im in Texas.

@@LjGarciaSA Yeah i asked and they have no idea. Audi hasnt shared any information with them as of yet. Its supposed to be summer of this year but id be happy to have it anytime this year.

Once it starts getting built it’s done and complete in about two weeks tops , the shipping is what takes the longest. Whole process 4 to 6 months dealer said RS models get prioritized so good chance it could be here in four months.
