How to Speed Drift in Trackmania + BONUS CLIP (Summer 2020 - 22 Tutorial)

I present to you, a new tutorial for one of Trackmania's iconic tricks, the Speed Drift (SD). SD is one of the most famous tricks in the Fullspeed style. It's a small angled drift that gives the car higher acceleration than driving in a straight line. SD can be done on road, grass, dirt and ice (ice not shown here)
The criteria for speed drifting on road (most common surface) is 390km/h minimum (beginners shouldn't think about sd until 450km/h minimum), get into a complete drift (4 tyre skids) and overlap them roughly 50% (You can look at either side, it doesn't matter) This will give you increased acceleration at any speed above 450km/h. Maintain a smooth, consistent rhythm regardless of how you do SDs (Keyboard or GamePad/Controller).
Dirt and Grass are the fastest surfaces for SDs. The drift angle is extremely small and requires very small turns to maintain. These SDs can be done at speeds as low at 160, but the gears make it difficult to manage (that's for another time)
This tutorial is meant to be an introduction to Speed Drifting, I did not go into full detail regarding different skids at different speeds etc. I wanted this to be simple, easy to understand for as many people as possible. If Fullspeed gathers more traction in the TM community, I'll consider making more advanced tutorials in Fullspeed and Speed Drifting.

It's Great that you open up about it and still make the video even if it's a struggle for you. kudos for that. It's called exposure therapy. Usually the best approach to get over anxiety is to confront it. So doing videos like this is the best thing you could possibly do in order to improve. Especially since the internet provides a lower burden to get over when interacting with people rather than doing it face to face. Keep it up and it will become better !

Started to learn SDs at the beginning of the year and this video is still very helpful. One thing I'm still struggling with are s4ds, since I'm hesitant to commit to one and getting a clean execution, so I rather don't do them at the moment. I imagine it's very much dependent on the track and space, but maybe it's a topic to get a little more specific in a future video. Cheers and great job showcasing a difficult yet fun mechanic!
