This isn't the only way but it's quick and easy...sort of...

Another great video. Nice work. The fader is inspired, nice neat looking mod. I like the way you seem to get normal speed at one end of the potentiometer with this mod. You don't get the high speed, but you don't have to wire and mount a switch to get back to normal. Its mainly the pitch down and half speed thing that most of us are going for anyway.

Worth noting the reason that A10k pot had so much range until after about halfway/12 o’clock is that it is a logarithmic pot and so the last 1/3rd of the rotation contributes to about 70% of the actual change in resistance

Good Tutorial. Have you ever tried doing some bends on those dictaphone/transcriber cassette machines? (the ones with the footpedals) 💡Would be interesting to see! Cheers 🙃

Hey! thanks for the comment! we did actually pick one of them up at a boot sale but it turned out it was so old we couldn't even get it functioning... maybe we'll return to the idea if we can think of something cool to do with it 🤔 Thanks for watching

Great Video! One question: How would you go about wiring a switch or a key to it? So that the player is only playing when the key is pressed and then it plays the selected pitch from the knob?

Great! I as trying to find the spot with the wire and my walkman just stop and never work again 😢. I was fooling arround a trimpot searching for lower speeds. The vid is great and your work is always beautifull. Rgrds from Argentina!

Which slider pot do you use? Do you use 5k or 10k? It’s a really good idea to use sliders and I definitely want to use them to mod my next k7tape. Love ur videos guys!

What i dont get is how come when you connect the two points on a non resisting jumper wire, the player stops?

Hi, can I know if it is possible to remove the cover from a Sanyo TRC-1148 where the cassette and speaker are located? I see that there are cables connected that go to the speaker (yellow and blue) and two other cables (red and black). If you can help me. Thank you.

Hi there yeah we tend to remove the front cover also, the tape sits in there fine without it and the wires are only for the speaker so we just cut the wires and do without the speaker cus it's no use (to us) anyway ! Hope that helps!

Would it be ok to use an adapter once the mod is done or is it safer to just stick to batteries?

Nice one! We a got a UK viewer! Aha the white players are easy to find on Aliexpress if you search for "walkman" on Aliexpress you'll definitely spot them! A better option is the sanyo talkbooks though, the stock is old but the quality is higher and for near enough the same price! They are findable on eBay, we use the sanyo talkbook trc-1148 dictaphones for alot of our mods 👌

Probably the best tech video I’ve ever seen but worst tutorial! Before you mentioned not plugging in, four of my cabling staff had perished - Adam, Joe, Zavid and poor old STEPHEN!!!

Fun video, but all these "poke around then solder a pot" ones only make the tapes go SLOWER. What about a speed control where it can go slower or faster than normal? Puhleeeeez? (And yes I'm an American, but I'm from CA so I don't say Howdy, y'all.)

A motor is only going to go as fast as the voltage supplied to it, so unless the recorders default speed is less than supply voltage, you're going to need to put more voltage into the motor.

@@SiriusArtistry Interesting - so for instance using a 9V for a deck that uses 4 C batteries etc.; should that be fed directly to the motor to avoid damage to the other circuitry in the deck?

@markc.7984 I'd make sure the motor could handle 9V before connecting it. If it can, then yes, disconnecting it from the main board is a good idea.

😅 guys, just press record when the speed is set to half way, now you can speed the recording up or slow it down... less range on both but that's a quick fix!
