How to spot annual meadow grass (poa annua) without seed heads and when to cut new grass, Knowing how to spot annual meadow grass in your perennial ryegrass will help you eradicate it from the new lawn, remember the look for the genetic defect on the leaf that looks like the scream mask in this video, annual meadow grass also does have a purple bottom like perennial ryegrass,
on cutting your looking for the leaf when it starts to grow back on itself this is when you know its ready to be cut, i used the bosch rotak as its very light and wont disturb the seed bed, I use then the scotts rotary spreader to feed and over seed the lawn with 2kg of extra seed,

Agreed, Danny is the best. I get the how and the why plus all the products to create my own versions of his masterpieces. And the Bio Boost coupled with the fertiliser. I'm mowing every 2-3 days.

Hi Daniel. Great video as usual. I'm looking to cut my seed this week. I'm 10 days after seeding with a decent growth and no bird take thanks to your tip on using the fleece. 👍. I just wondered how low you cut or how much you cut off on the 1st cut please? Cheers.

Daniel, if you were starting from scratch to get rid of a lawn rife with poa, would you use a turf cutter or just scalp it? Would you use roundup all over before or after scalping ? And how long would you leave roundup before re seeding ? Thank you 🙏

Thanks for posting. Will I see other grasses flowering other than poa. I’ve got lots of flowering at to momentLawns are a mixture of good grasses as well as annual meadow grass kept at around 25mm and a bit of Yorkshire fog. Be good to strip them off in next spring so I can get just perennial ryegrass on. Cheers

Hi Daniel, quick question on dealing with annual meadow grass. Do you think blow torching the weed would help? I have quite a few spots and looking for a quick solution. Thanks in advance for your advice

It has a temporary effect, grows back as tried it with a weed gun

great video. to fight streetgrass in youre lawn (existing) you can also let the lawn grow lang at least 10cm. than mow it short. let it grow realy long again and mow it short again. the most of it will be gone. wy, because long grass will let the rootsystem grow really lardge and deep ,roots go to 1mtr deep. streetgrass does not go very deep at all mabey 3cm in the ground. lardge grass leaves have great fotosynthese and big surfice to moist the roots. when mowing short, you take off the seedheads of the streetgrass and the roots have no room because of the huge rootsystem of the grass that,s build up.

Ive watered by hand once on the right side rains done the rest , the left will be hand watered also
