On this episode of Make It Kustom, I am working on the 1931 Model A roadster floor. I’m also fabricating a seat frame so that I know where to weld in my threaded inserts in the floor braces before spot welding the bead rolled floor panels down. I also talk about my process for spot welding with a TIG welder.

Seriously man, it takes talent and willpower along with knowledge…. I give my professional information away free as well and after 30 years have yet to have a single soul get near my job… if you are afraid that teaching will cost you your job then you aren’t as good as you think, and even if you are there’s plenty to go around, in case you missed it the world is lacking skilled trades as youngsters haven’t learned them in quite a long time now and the old guys are retired or will soon… Teach every young person you can bro, being a master isn’t complete until you have taught a few your trade…. ✌️

Sharing knowledge is what we need more of. Help each other save the cars. There is no shortage of work in this industry, just a shortage of people with skills, and it is basically impossible to get formal schooling on this.

Heh, the knowledge is valuable but for better or worse there’s still a ton of work involved. Not to mention I think it might take me a few tries to get the techniques to work like they do in the videos.

Massive skills! Great , humble teaching style also! Showing your work from cad to plasma cut to kleko install, and reasons for thru holes making a better weld ... You are the man! What a pro job you can be proud of! The building is more satisfying than the end product ownership, both have their satisfaction, but a Fab dude probably isn't satisfied unless another fulfilling job is planned and taking place. Props!

Anyone can throw a fender on and mix some plastic and slap it into a hole . What you do is MAGIC to the auto body repair. I am a retired auto body guy and never came close at your level. More worked at dealerships and did that kind of repair. Keep letting the young generation know what is out there. At my age internet wasn't available , so what we learned from is other guys what they did. You should be very proud of yourself on where you stand in the world. No 1 in my book. Keep the content coming . Ben from Alberta

I asked about 5-6 and you answered every one of them.. So thank you for your incredible work and for this great channel. I hope you find a new place that won't drain everything you've got... You will never need a "STORE FRONT" as your work will bring people from everywhere to wherever you are... NICE! Back in my day we didn't have CAD programs or CNC plasma tables. Great music once again. I have found in the past that when one has a plan and attempts to implement it as it was thought and written down, there are always things and ideas that crop up and you go" Hey, that's a great Idea and it would look so cool"! this is where a five hour job turns into a fifty hour job, but it feel good and it feels right. I LOVE Clecos! Without the holes in the braces the Tig will tens to arc in the hole and not touch the brace very much, which will lead to broken welds later on and then you get some nasty road rattle that you have to fix else it drives you crazy. Super job on the welding. I wish I could weld that fast, I might have made some money at this game. Like my old friend Bill used to say, "have a plan, but you can change it as you go, It's an organic process". He would've like you Karl, but he's been gone now these last 6 years.
