Saint Synchronicity omg I’m so jealous! Enjoy ❤️ You might not want to plant all ten beds this year... that would be a lot of work for even an experienced gardener... and I think biting off too much in the beginning is the best way to get so frustrated that you quit gardening all together. Not that you asked. Hahaha I’m a busybody I guess 😂 just my two cents. Enjoy your new garden!!!

Steph Anie oh, I so agree with you! Just start small, work your way up! You’ll learn what grows where, etc. I’m a long time gardener, believe me you can quickly get overwhelmed if you do too much too soon. So excited for you just starting out, dream big-start small! Good luck!

This is VERY VERY helpful! I've known for several years that I needed to spray my boxwoods with this oil in the off-season, but I was never sure exactly when to do it. The spider mites are really taking a toll! Will be making sure to take care of my boxwoods and all my other ornamentals correctly this winter. Thank you!

I LOVE the fruit tree videos in your parents orchard. There’s a ton of information out there, but as a newbie with a smaller set up of 6-8 trees, it can be overwhelming looking through it all!! Do you think y’all could continue doing one or two more updates on that orchard? Maybe as they start to grow, when they harvest, other care throughout the season? Love the trimming video y’all did too👍🏼

Thank you for doing these product info videos. As a relatively new gardener, it can be overwhelming to walk into a store (usually big box) and try to figure out what it is I actually need from the sea of choices on the shelves. I'm hoping to plant some apple and pear trees this year and if I do, I'll be sure to look for this product.

Great subject! I’ve found dormant oil to be a big help also. As far as the later sprays for fruit trees, the “every two weeks” model never worked for me. When I started using the degree day model, I have had much more success in controlling the pests that ruin the fruit, and I also have to spray many fewer times per year. I have a friend who is a horticulturist who lets me know when the degree days are full. You may want to research it.

@gardenanswer love this video! can you do more videos on this type of stuff... things like plant/tree maintenance schedules for pruning, fertilizing and spraying... and problem solving videos... how to combat specific pests/diseases... love all the new plant demo videos and the planting inspiration ones too but we need help keeping all these things alive too! lol. I'm thinking a "rosebush maintenance" video for what to do as we head into spring would be an awesome one for example... maybe there is preventative spraying we can do for those too??? love the idea of spraying BEFORE pollinators are around!

In Washington State they pay you $10.00 a tree to remove them. If you have them you must spray them. We have about 15 trees that will be three years old this year. So far no bugs 🐛. But the birds sure do love the cherries 🍒. The only problem we ever had when I was growing up was the earwigs getting into the apricots . We’ll see what happens with this tiny orchard. Will start spraying after a trip to the extension office.

Why no protective gear? Children and pets should not be exposed to even organic, natural chemicals unnecessarily. I recall a time when RoundUp was considered safe. It may be best to use caution even with so-called safe materials. Otherwise, really good information for fruit trees. I hope to buy a few soon.

Horticultural oil is labeled as poison because it is a petroleum product but if you see and touch it is very much like baby oil used to massage infants. Diluted at a couple milliliters per liter it would be a moisturizer if you got it on you. I would suggest using a stick and a piece of light ribbon so you know which way any wind is going.

How about something on Japanese Beetles, they can be terrible here in July (Michigan).
@camilla6110
@camilla6110 5 жыл бұрын
Peggy Krantz We bought specific Japanese beetle kits last year. They are just plastic bags with a substance that attracts the beetles. You hang them a little ways from your garden and in minutes, the beetles swarm the bags, fall inside and are trapped. We must have caught several thousand with just a couple kits last year..less than $15 total, and the gardens thanked us!! Hint...when the bags are full, empty them quickly. In the heat of summer, the bugs rot fast! Ewww! 😉
