An important tip when staining is that you really want to flood the surface of the wood with the stain then gently wipe off the excess after maybe a minute or so.

Skip the brush use a wrap while wearing latex gloves and keep wiping around the shell till it's nice and even.

Why do you have to tape the edges? What does it prevent . Trying to do this on my kit.... Wanted to stain the whole kit a dark brown and put a blue stripe in the middle and have the snare be an invert of the whole kit... First time doing something like this so we shall see how it goes

Can I use a 2in1 stain & varnish high-gloss wood finish on my drum shell? I'm making a project and I've remove the wrap on my drums cause it's too dirty and can easily tear the wrap so I decided to take them out and make a new wood style looking on my drums
