Bulk filming is a lifesaver! I film every Saturday morning too. Usually, I can get 4-6 videos done in one morning as long as I planned out what I want to film earlier that week.
@SkimwithSteph
@SkimwithSteph 2 жыл бұрын
Please give me your advice! I would love to bulk film to save some time like was mentioned, but how do you balance filming multiple videos ahead with the book reading? I find that I am sometimes still trying to wrap up reading the books the week I am planning on filming so it is hard to get ahead.
@TheBookishMom

@@SkimwithSteph I personally do a lot of reccomendation type videos. So I do 5-7 books with X trope, these are easy to film in advance. Reviews I usually just take the most recent books I have read, write my reviews and script them film those. I only film one day a week so really it is all in the planning to get it done.

I've been considering starting a book channel for a while now. A place to connect, nerd out about books, and also record some of my thoughts in a vlog like format! This video is SO HELPFUL. I've been following you for a couple years now (I found BookTube in lock down lol) and I love seeing your style evolve 🥰 I'm a virtual teacher - so I record videos several times a week, just using my laptop and screen sharing extensions. But I'd be brand new to editing. What kind of editing programs would you recommend for beginners? And how do you come up with your ideas? Filming several videos on Saturday morning is a great idea, but I'd be afraid I would have that many ideas at one time 😂

I’m using Descript or iMovie for editing. I do have a Mac. Unsure what is the equivalent iMovie for a PC but Descript can be used on a PC. With Descript, it transcribes your video and you edit it by deleting words or sentences; which I find easier than just using audio. It gives you a few hours free then you’ll need to upgrade. Video ideas, I look at other booktubers and I think about what I’d like to do and because of this video, I’ll start planning them ahead now.

When I learned film cuts, my editing games elevated. Also B-roll. I am obsessed so I have been adding more b-roll to my videos these days. Bulk filming is super good. I do it often. Those of you who may mental health concerns bulks filming helps you a lot. Because you may not always be in the mindset or in the mood to film your videos every week.

After years of hesitating, I finally recorded a video the other day, and I'm determined to get a video out this month. It's scary but videos likes these truly motivate me. I love doing videos but only keep them to myself, and I love commenting on books, but I never share those thoughts with anyone The sense of community is definitely a beautiful part of Booktube Thanks for the video 💕

As someone who started doing video content while in college (a lot of video assignments) I can agree it takes a while to get used to speaking to a camera but I feel that I'm getting better. Also I think that clip of your editing showing the jump cut was a really great way to visually show what you had said before.

I just started my booktube channel, I just posted my very first video , I have no camera or lighting , I use what I have, I’m a mom and wife, so financially can’t buy professional equipment for my KZfaq videos, I started mine because I have no book friends that live near me so I want to talk books with new book friends on KZfaq! I was always afraid to start a booktube channel due to my size and my husband was afraid for me starting a KZfaq channel due to bullies but I know what I’m getting into, I use to get so emotional over bullies but now I either laugh or ignore said haters but that will put me to the test

Thank you for all these tips! I've been wanting to start a Booktube channel for a while now and I'm planning on filming my first video today.. I say that but I might self sabotage and just continue watching How-To videos until it's too dark to film.. Knowing that the awkwardness of talking to the camera goes away after a while is helpful!

Thank you so much for this video. I've just started a booktube/flosstube channel and your video is extremely helpful. When I film video 2 next week, I'm really going to try talking to the camera as if I'm talking to a friend. I'm way more "bubbly" in real life than I appear, so hopefully this will help. I haven't invested in any expensive equipment - I'm just using a phone and cheap tripod, which worked well. Thanks again for creating this really helpful video.

I LOVED this video! Thank you so much for sharing. 💞 I started my channel a couple months ago and I'm loving it, but I do find it hard to find other smaller channels to connect with. I want to find a core few people to do reading sprints, book clubs, etc and grow with! I'm going to start looking around :) One thing I struggle with is feeling like I can't reach out to someone with a higher subscriber count than me. I'm definitely person #2 who wants to grow my channel but I don't want to inconvenience anyone by them interacting with a channel like mine that isn't going to give them beneficial exposure for a wider reach. I hope that makes sense! If anything, I feel less alone on my booktube journey after watching this. 💖
