Great series! Glad I found you through Brian Alsruhe's channel. Could you elaborate more on how money is made within the gym? Do you earn most from classes? Do you have open gym hours? As a smaller gym can you even do open gym or will it be a mess? How much time do you actually spend at the gym? Could you give us an example of a full work week for you (a planner)?

Thank you so much for this amazing and free information, I hope to start my own gym in the next few years and I believe your videos will help me immensely. If you need any ideas for part 3, I've got some questions: 1) how many members per square meter you need to make the gym at least substantial for itself? Approximately of course. 2) how important it is not to have any other gyms around? 3) I know a lot of commercial gyms make most of their profit on members who don't actually come to the gym. I'd prefer my members to use the membership they paid for, but is it something to consider? Like, lowering the membership cost so people buy it anyway, even if they don't plan to use the gym too often.

I find myself in an interesting situation. I live in an upscale development outside of a large city. I feel like there could be demand for a gym, however, I have no experience in the industry. I'm considering becoming a certified personal trainer, but I would definitely not have a following. would it be a poor plan to hire on a trainer to bring in business when it first gets started?

So the $170K was expenses over 4 years, after the $30K startup cost? I'm starting with $30K as well, so if that's the case it sets my mind at ease a bit.

How did it go brother? Give us an update please
@greeksandromans

@@richtexas4431 In a nutshell, it went well. I focused on purchasing extensible, functional and free-weight gear, like you would get from someone like Rogue- 1) I think it's better for training 2) it's cheaper 3) it's more flexible in terms of types of programs you can run on it 4) it's a standout in a crowded market (too many machine gyms as it is). You can go a long way on just a little bit of that type of gear, a very small amount of gear in fact if you're clever. I decided to go small and focus on individual training as opposed to opening the gym up much, also renting it out hourly. Right when I was building up, I had an opportunity to purchase a farm, so closed everything down, packed up and started thinking about how to run my business in a rural area. Then the pandemic hit, everything fell apart and it looks I'm on a life raft until this is all over. I'm not concerned, because I know I'll just hit the ground running when I can get started again.

@@greeksandromans yeah it makes sense to start with less equipment and do as much as you can with it. Yeah after covid, gyms should be booming. Did you have a following before you started or did you build that as you went along?
@greeksandromans
@greeksandromans 3 жыл бұрын
@@richtexas4431 I had a local network, but I don't know that you can call that a "following". Definitely had no time to work on social media (though I did that as a career before this, which is probably why I didn't want to go near it). I've been thinking up possible ideas, however, sitting around in quarantine.
