How to start a MAK 8M25 engine.

Күн бұрынI made this instruction video on the dutch cargo vessel mv Maasborg. It show's how to start a MAK 8M25. According procedures I made on that specific vessel.
Edit: First time I made a video. The reason for the music was, that in the different "shots" the Engine was sometimes not running (bad English?). And thus the sounds were different between the different "shots". And yes, not great music choice, but it was free!
The GoPro Hero 4 session camera was used to record the video. It was created in GoProStudio.

Very much the same procedure I use on my ship with 2 of these engines :-)

so its a part of the startup procedure to turn the engine via the turning gear for 5mins? never seen before. only seen it being done with starting air. nice video.

Turning gear is better ,it's takes much less energy for turning the engine than produce that amount of air which using for turn.

if you have problems with the start interlock due to slight low prelube pressure, how do you bypass for an emergency start.

On the PS of the engine, there is control box(X1X6X8),there is a pressure stat which is responsible for it (No1106) ,open the cover and turn (by allen key)clockwise until interlock is off, than you can "override" protection and start the engine. Or install "jumper" in the connection plug of that pressure stat. Only for REAL emergency case :)

Why turn engine for so long 2 full turns of the crankshaft should be enough and why not start engine with cw pumps on auto etc.
