John Beauvais, it's not as nice as that. My mother survived them, but was not the same afterwards. The V1 was a _random_ cruise missile aimed at the largest population centre available. London. It just blew up whatever was there when it arrived. I'm not quite old enough to remember.

I have learned NEVER to stand in the path of a jet's engine like that. The hard way. I was chilly one night while I was working late at a naval base in Korea. They cranked up an F18 to check the engine, I walked over, expecting at least a warm breeze from the deflection plates in the back of the hanger. I got blown around like a wind in a toasty breeze. But hey! I was warm. And smelled like I'd been swimming in a gas can.

Gday Colin, i built a couple of pulse jets a few years ago, only small 1 1/2" intake, i built a high frequency spark igniter that runs across 2 spark plugs in the combustion chamber. Initially i was blowing air through to start it but after some testing i found they start easily by stuffing a ball of paper towel into the intake, turning on the spark then the gas, the paper falls out and you get to hear the wonderful pulsejet sound.

What was terrifying was when the buzz stopped. That meant that 1000 pounds of high explosive was going to fall on you. They calculated the fuel to last until they were over London. They would blow up a city block. Very effective and cheap. They were slow and the RAF soon learn to shoot the down over the channel.

the Hacksmith Surprising to hear. Smart move on your part. I know a couple YT channels that collaborated with other channels after speaking to their YT channel "Manager". They suggested they collaborate with other channels similar to their own, and even suggested a few to them. My channel manager also suggested certain things to me, which also included collaboration. I've observed that the benefit from one time collaborations is only a short term subscriber bump up. Multiple collaborations are required to get that boost. Normally I wouldn't check out your channel because Colin or anyone else said to, but since you actually took the time to reply, I did, and like what I see. I subscribed. :-) Too many channels rarely reply to viewer comments, on my channel I answer countless questions on a daily basis.
@theHacksmith
@theHacksmith 7 жыл бұрын
+electronicsNmore glad to hear KZfaq managers are pushing it, it's a pattern I've seen for a while. If you make a viral video, great, but subscriber turnover is crap, usually less than 1% -- but KZfaq collabs -- with other KZfaqrs, that's the audience you really want to see your video, people who actually subscribe to channels, active users on KZfaq! I have a few more lined up over the next few months :)
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 7 жыл бұрын
I agree, I've observed that only a small fraction of the subscribers actually watch all the videos. YT channels with 1 million subscribers usually only get 100,000 - 200,000 views, which is only a fraction of the subscriber count. I like your channel, so you'll be seeing me around. BTW, you resemble Calvin Harris. :-)

It's what the German V1 flying bomb had as an engine. They needed a catapult launch but that was for mobility between launch sites. A bit more complicated than the one in the video but the same principles.
