Couple of things......never use a screwdriver to flick start the engine, you risk damaging the prop and possibly end up with a blade parting. Use a short length of wooden dowel. Also never ever run the engine without tethering the model securely to the ground, if the model jumps forward the natural reaction is to put your hand out to stop it......straight into the prop - very nasty.

That is real smart to be in line with that prop when you are trying to start the engine. Sounds like you have the throttle too far open too and you are very rough on your engines. I am flying LA40 engines and they run just fine. It will bite you one day.

Make sure your fuel settings are exactly as I set mine up in the video. After priming, set the carb open about 1/3. The glow plug needs to be the correct size, and the heater fully charged. Mine was a bitch to start when it was new. If you can't do it by hand, you'll need an electric starter to get it broken in. You can land them pretty cheap if you shop right. Instead of turning it over one stroke at a time, they'll spin the prop close to your idle rpm. It'll start right up.

Hate to spoil it to y'all, but the 46 LA series is among the worst rc motors to toy with mainly because of the remote valve needle located in the back that tends to allow air thru and because it's not ball-bearing built. I would cash in on the OS AX series...Or the Thunder Tiger PRO series!

No offense to this video, but please avoid the OS LA motor series by all means: 1-The fuel line between the carburetor to the remote needle in the back tends to such air into the line. 2-There's no ball bearing, thus the motor tends to run ruftly. Choose the AX series: 1-The mixture needle may be near the propeller, but it's tilted further back so your fingers is cleared enough from the prop. 2-With dual ball bearings front and back, the crankshaft spins more smoother and efficiently...

it sounds like a really poorly maintained engine. it realy shouldn't take that long to start. i fly big scale four strokes and 2 strokes. that 2 stroke is crap.

That's not how you start an engine of any kind. Firstly never use a screw driver to turn it over, that's the fastest way to wreck a prop. I hand start these things on control line stunt planes with my fingers, if primed correct they start first flick. These bigger engine are pussy cats and don't bite, it's only my small diesels that I am wary of and have made me bleed.
