I just turned 42 last month and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s not to over-think things. Let life happen naturally and gradually day by day. This universe is MASSIVE, much bigger than anything we’re capable of imagining and each one of us is so tiny, we literally mean nothing. We’re not significant. So don’t stress, don’t over-think things and just let each day happen.

Love this new style of vlog ❤ As a woman who’s just entered half a century my advice is walk slower and look up, treat your daily life the same way you do when you’re on holiday, pick foods you have never tried, walk down the street you never choose, life has no end goal, school teaches you that there’s a right and a wrong way of doing things, it teaches you that there’s an end point you’re working towards and when you get there, there’s a sense of relief and time off to follow it. That’s school, that’s not how life is, you will often find that when you get to point of reaching your goals, you have already moved the goal post. Today is the most important day of your life, the things you’re worried about won’t matter in a years time. Wear the pretty dress, burn the candles and enjoy your journey x

Alexis that was a great vlog, thank you. I'm an overthinker too, and my mom taught me early, to get your money right first (consistent ), then start living out your aspirations. The second thing was having time for family, and friends. I'm 65 now, and life was/is good. This is my favorite youtube channel, thank you for being you.😊

I’ll be 42 in August and what I want now is not what I wanted in my 20’s or even my 30’s. So, regarding the quote, it IS important to just make a choice but it’s also important to know that you’re still growing and can (and likely will) change course. It’s why people have “mid life crisis’.” You wake up one day and think of all the paths you could’ve taken and start freaking out because the fig you chose was not the fig you’d choose now. I know I have. lol. The crazy part is how sure you can be that you want something particular in your life and then in 10 years it’s “what was I thinking?”.

This was one of your best vlogs so far this year. Loved it! I am turning 40 this year and I just made a video about doing 40 things before turning 40. Some of them are simple acts of kindness while others are little dares to stretch my comfort levels. I think goals are important and they give us a direction to set our days to. But it’s the daily decisions that matter the most. My advice is to follow your heart at least 80% of the time. Life is too short for most of us. It deserves to be lived even if we think we made a mistake. We learn and grow and time keeps moving.

Wow, that really hit hard. After turning 30 this year I realized that I was just going on autopilot, overthinking every decision, afraid that I would make the wrong choice. What I didn’t realize was that by “not making a choice”, the choices were still being made around me but I had no say over the outcome. Waiting for life to eventually happen without doing anything to get there will just leave you with the life you didn’t want. Thank you so much for this video!! Great work, and I hope this can be a new chapter of intentional living for all of us!!! ♥️

Omg the fig tree excerpt completely resonated with me too! I have been struggling with all of the possible future paths, or even mourning past paths lately, but all that overthinking does is just keep me from choosing one and going full steam ahead with it. Love the idea of intentionality and also just trying to be present on the current path. awesome video, thanks for sharing! 😊

recently, a huge door in terms of my theatre life closed for me. i've been dealing with a lot of grief for what that held and uncertainty for how i'm going to move on, but at the end of the day you're right. choices are hard but they're important and i don't want to live my life in fear of losing those figs- so thank you.

It all feels so important and big when you are young, because you can’t see your future. But the truth is that life, accomplishments and happiness are not in the end goal, but in the everyday, the simple things. I’m 42 and still trying to figure out what I want to be when “I grow up”. I’ve been many things already, but you are always learning, always looking (at least me) and so it’s been really important to me to enjoy the simple things because the goals and plans are not always achievable or enjoyable!

As I said before, I love your voiceovers. They're so good! I'm turning 28 next week, and I have so many similar questions, doubts, etc. Sometimes I feel too overwhelmed with everything going on in my head haha. Overthinking is such a horrible thing. I mean it can ruin so many plans and goals. Also catastrophizing. Thankfully, it's not very present in my life, but when those ugly thoughts happen in some stressful situations it just adds unnecessary drama. Working on it to change my life for the better. Tired of being scared and uncertain. Too much time was wasted.

These are so inspiring -- I love seeing you be able to lean into these more in addition to your other work. There are so many *sit down* motivation videos that explain as if like an outline how to change your life (like a textbook -- and there is NOTHING wrong with textbooks they are actually my traditional preferred method of learning the majority of the time) BUT I feel your videos are filling a void in the youtube/ self improvement (read: self alignment) community -- and that is learning through art. You can learn just as much from watching a play as you can by reading a textbook -- they are just presented differently. One presents concepts logically and step by step as if in an ideal form -- art presents it in the same way life manifests itself - paradoxical, complex, subliminal, messy and yet still *true.

Hi from someone that's watched a few vlogs and found it to be comfort viewing! Cheers! I feel like I constantly worry about the things in the future because I’m worried (based on experiences) that there’s always something that’s going to happen or something unexpected would dawn on me. But also, sometimes I’m so tired of these worries that I just fully check out and start pushing things off. I have heard the Bell Jar fig tree quote, and it was also from a friend that read it to me as a bit of wisdom at a moment of branching paths in me finding myself both academically and socially. The more I think back at it the more I start to pull myself from that. I’m so often in that things I could be doing mindset that I feel that very much. Sometimes I really just wish choosing to spend more time with people around me does not weigh on me as much. Like you said in the video, hindsight is always the 20/20 and making a present choice is an important learning but also ongoing progress. And yes, I should definitely read The Bell Jar.

Being in the moment and not overthinking is key :) enjoy every second. It took me a long while to get this- to just be grateful to be alive and enjoy! I once spent a year in France and ate from a local fig tree and somehow that taught me to enjoy "the sweetness of life" :) Beautiful video, well done you! I love these essays and I truly feel you are coming into your artistry ! When I was living in NYC- around this same age range- that was when I really came into myself and got clarity. I "do" a lot less now and am so much happier being in simplicity and love being alone with myself too :) New camera is amazing too! Have you ever thought if using some of your own music in your videos in the edit ? Could be special !

Get into the basics and the foundations. Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? God is the center we should be revolving around. God the Creator from everlasting to everlasting, Jesus Christ the Son of God and the son of man, the Lord of all. When we read the Bible, our minds and hearts are enlightened with truth and the love of God reaches our soul.
