You know you need to be on social media. KZfaq, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Some of the most popular sites out there on the web. Even Snapchat, even though Instagram is crushing it, it's still doing really well. They have over a hundred million active users daily. But as a beginner, all of this is overwhelming and complicated. So how do you start? Hey, everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today I'm gonna share with you how to get started with social media as a beginner.

The first thing you need to do is pick the right social network. Yes, there's a lot of them. Whether it's Facebook, whether it's LinkedIn, whether it's Twitter, it's up to you on which network you want to be on. You could be on all of them but if you're in all of them you're not gonna spend enough time to make these profiles amazing.

But now that you have a right one, the second thing you need to do is start creating content. Yes, you're like hey I have no friends, I have no following. It doesn't matter no one's gonna follow if you don't have any content. So start creating content. That starts off with completing your profile.

Now that you're creating content, the next thing you need to do is build a connection. And you need to build a connection with people, it's a social network. Just because you're on a computer doesn't mean you're not connecting with humans. So make sure you're friending all the people that you know, following them. You're engaging, right you're building connections.

And the last tip is don't go for follower count. It's all about having valuable connections, personal ones. Because if your first 100 fans or followers aren't that engaged with you, all these social networks have it in their algorithms where they're looking at a percentage.

For an absolute beginner, using acronyms like B2B and B2C can be very frustrating because one has to stop your video and look up these terms. When saying something is for beginners, please consider explaining acronyms and terms before moving on. Thank you. Excellent content!

I am learning as much as I can before getting started making money online. I don't have a business or a social media presence at all. I'm in my 40's, close to retiring from the military. I see all the potential in online advertising, but I know plenty of people fail and a lot of people get scammed buying courses or programs or the courses are quality but they are not followed properly, leading to disappointment, failure and wasted money. Important to know how to market on social media in a way that keeps you and your family safe. Or just be very effective at avoiding social media altogether. One photograph of even just a head shot can mean your life. I've now had two REALLY scary men either physically come into my business in a very terrifying/inappropriate way or text me very creepy texts that just sent white hot fear through me. I'm furiously resentful of being forced into letting the world know we all exist.

Linkedin is the worst; unresponsive professionals and to top it all majority is looking to get job not immigration. FB is the recommended forum for any and all types of immigration. Direct your traffic from FB to your webpage and you will have better luck.

Always love the help that you provide so many people. I am constant follower. I have been having a hard time picking the right social channel for our business for a couple of reasons. We are a bathroom/ construction supply distributor and belong to an industry that doesn't use too much social for product buying + a region where not many look for bathroom products online, and we are a 1.5-year old firm. I know videos would work well in this industry, however, the platform to share it on is very complex to determine (a platform that gives results).

This is a good starting point. I think however that the biggest missed piece was understanding your goals. People go out and create content for months and get nowhere because there is no strategy, just random creation. Do you have videos discussing this?

No doubt! The best thing I can say would be to create content that is valuable to your audience. Since your niche has to do with legalities make sure your content follows the EAT structure. Expertise, authority, and trustworthiness.

I have a question. As there are a lot of social media choices I have that I can advertise on, does it really matter how important the main user base is for the social media channel, considering a lot of them are advanced these days and have targetting options? Why not just use all the social media channels available. For example, if TikTok's main user base are teens and tweens, but I want to market something for people aged 50,60+, does that matter assuming I can target the ads to whom I want? Also assuming if I am doing above mediocre job on all of them.

Well first, you need to make sure your site is built using SEO best practices :) Then once your site is up and live you can start running ads to it.
