Transport Fever games can be made significantly easier by starting out strong. In this money making tutorial I cover a guide to making money from goods from day 1. There are other methods to making profit in Transport Fever early on, but this one is simple and effective. This is part of the Transport Fever 5 minute masterclass; 5 minute tutorials aimed to help you get past some of the sticking points in the game. If you're new and are learning how to make a strong start in Transport Fever, or whether you have played a bit but want to improve at Transport Fever, this series may come in useful.

Colonel Failure you've missed a great routing opportunity here, Instead of having the processed food delivered to the first city in a bus stop, have a truck depot in range to that bus stop, you then create your process food delivery routes from that new depot not your food processing plant. Then set up your other city deliveries from this new truck depot and you've future proofed Tronoto to become a distribution point for future materials. Loving the tutorials :)

I find that the easiest way to boost demand early on is to connect a number of cities with cargo trucks in a network (think: mesh). Six to eight should be enough. Place the stations so that they cover both industry and trade from the beginning. It's important to use proper stations, not stops. Establish lines between the cities to create a network. Always connect two neighbouring cities point to point, and do not create lines with more than two stops. It doesn't matter that there is nothing to transport yet, what you achieve is creating a single marketplace for products. The moment you connect anything to this network, industry potential will be very strong indeed, so the struggle will be to get the raw materials in and the product out as quick as possible, not keeping up demand. It's a good idea to begin with the industries the Colonel suggested (oil, food, bricks). I would also suggest to use ships as they produce the biggest bang for the buck in the early game until more powerful trains arrive. Ideally, you have a town with raw materials close by. Ship the raw material to a factory on a boat and return with the product, which you then feed into your network. Soon, you will have a dozen or more boats running, earning you millions.

An effective strategy, no doubt, but possibly a little convoluted for a rank beginner.
@OliverJWeber
@OliverJWeber 5 жыл бұрын
Possibly. Especially as you need to run down your budget and get every loan there is. But once you have figured out how demand works, it becomes quite easy to boost industries. The difficult bit is finding a good map, so that you can minimise the distances the boats need to travel empty (ideally, to nil). The boats are the earners, they need to be 100% effective. With trucks, that's less of a problem. They are facilitators, not earners. But they usually cover most of their costs even if they travel empty on the second leg, and even a small loss is no issue when your ships generate 200k per haul or more. In an ideal scenario, you then find a second chain on the other side of your mesh. Say, food and fuel. You then get trucks traveling inside the mesh hauling food from left to right, and fuel from right to left. But I think I get what you meant by "convoluted" - lol. Maybe an "advanced beginners" series?

Can you please explain a little further about adding the bus stop. That bit confused me. Also, do you set up a separate line to take the processed grain to the city needing food. For some reason mine just sits in the processing plant being consumed. Not sure by whom. Lol

Wait, I thought that the game only understood 1:1 routes? For instance; you can only supply the food factory from 1 single farm, otherwise the 'designated' supplyer keeps switching from farm to farm, killing all demand. Likewise, you can only supply 1 city from 1 food factory, otherwise demand will collapse. Was this fixed with some recent patch that I missed, or was I wrong from the beginning?
@colonelfailure
@colonelfailure 5 жыл бұрын
Even in Train Fever the secret to success was supplying multiple cities from a single factory. Multiple raw resource producers feeding one factory can mess with demand a little, and honestly you shouldn't ever need to use multiple raw resource supplies. The best way to go is feed 3 cities from one factory, ideally with a couple of routes transporting goods in both directions. Two cities will work fine, but 3 is the sweet spot.

@@lordwunglerbeckett With that kind of loss you're likely running way too many trains/trucks too soon. Industry start out with slow production, so there is no point in putting a ton of throughput at the start. Hard to tell what is wrong with one specific setup without seeing it. I'd say the key is to make sure all legs are profitable. For that the basics apply: shortest routes as possible where the vehicles can travel as fast as they can.
