I did acting at 17 but my parents banned from it when i was given the main role for the sound of music 😪 now at nearly 32 I want to restart. Again I will say you can make it. @@anka004 I think it's going pretty well atm! I've done a lot of research into acting classes in my nearest city though travelling to a lot of them is quite difficult for me so I'm still looking into that. However, I am on an acting course at my sixthform and as of three/four months ago, started attending a youth theatre company which are working on a national theatre piece atm. I've also started LAMDA acting classes (it's like a music grade but in acting) which will help me develop my skills and is also great to put on my acting CV. I'm still participating in my school's musical productions which are always lodes of fun and I've recently auditioned for a professional production of Little Shop of Horrors which 🤞 was successful. Currently I am looking for some summer courses I can do to develop my skills further - I saw a really great one specialising in acting for screen in which I can use footage from the filming for my own show reel which sounds really appealing. And yeah! Hopefully soon I'll have a show reel and some acting mentorship under my belt - I'm having a little trouble with headshots because they seem so expensive and I've been told at my age you need to get them redone every 6 months or so which is not the most affordable so I don't really want to invest in them until I feel I have a good technique and am confident to dive into professional casting.

@@ma3roufi Well when I did some research into it, a lot of people online who were already professionally acting said you ideally needed them re-done every 6 months or so particularly if you're younger as you tend to change a lot over those periods? I know it's the internet so it can be a little 'wishy washy' but I do see a lot of change in myself in terms of maturity over the last year or so - I'm 16 so it's not that drastic anymore or anything but with how much professional headshots cost, I'm remaining cautious. I will try to look into getting some advice from some of my tutors though. P.s: Thank you

at first what i did before starting acting classes was just reading scripts and practicing with emotions and stuff like that and i think with backstage you have to have headshot to get roles. also i like to make a whole self tape just to watch myself and see how to improve with the script and sometimes costumes. im around the same age as you and these things helped for me! goodluck:)

Ok, somebody already answered but, 1. To learn acting without acting classes is possible, though classes could expand your talent(?) A bit more. Try reading some scripts or taking a dialogue from a movie, tv show, etc, and try? I'm your age and wanna be an actress too. Try sending some peeps a bit of ur acting, ask them for criticism, can be constructive criticism, though personally, I prefer criticism rude, mean, and cold, though everyone has their opinions. Ok, but say you got so so so good that you auditioned and got the part, your map likely or go to an acting school if you're interested in getting more parts. Take walker socbell for example, he played Adam reed in the Adam project, he used to be in a normal school I'm sure, though I THINK he's in an acting school now, most likely they're talent agencies. 2. An agent is someone who represents you, puts u up on casting calls, and tries to get you seen by casting directors - google when I searched. So, therefore, I think agents would help a lot, considering that they do. And as for managers, I don't think so, as what google told me, managers are usually relatives or besties there too (pretend I explain what they do, Idk what to say). If you have any advice for me, please give me lol, I need a lot of help in becoming at least a little bit good in acting 😭 This sounds weird but, just go on and ping(?) me if u want more or have any questions, I’m happy to help! The same thing is happening to me, my mom thinks I want to be a lawyer still because that’s what I wanted to do. But I’m starting to get into liking acting. I’m 14 and I told my mom yesterday. She told me that I was too old to start acting and that I need to start when im 4 or 5. Today she said that if she thinks i have what it takes than she will put me in classes. Just know that no matter what your parents say or think, it’s what you wanna do not them. It’s your life so live and do what you want.
