How to Start Your Online (Crochet) Business?

Before you start any business, it is always a good idea to create a business plan. I will be sharing with you how I started my own online business selling crochet goodies. This could be a guide or a checklist for you to start your own business.
When I first started thinking about the possibility of starting my own business in 2019, I was honestly overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start. Luckily for me, I had my amazing husband who got me brainstorming and to really think about all the key questions to start a business. Those questions were WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN and HOW. This video will break these questions down and I hope it will be a useful guide for you when you start your own crochet business or small business. Hi Chloe! I've been watching so many of your videos and then this one popped up in my suggested feed. I'm so glad it did because I'm working on launching my own crochet business at the moment. I'll be selling more home decor/accessory type items, which I'm creating now, but I have my branding and website set up. Thanks so much for creating this content and sharing how you started your business and continue to run it. I absolutely LOVE your style and your toys. Thank you, every little bit helps to push me forward. I have a small crochet business, Hip Fine Crafts. Been creating for 10 years, getting my patterns worked out and products sale worthy. I just have to figure out how to set up a website. I have logo, cards and products, now I need a forum to sell on. Tried Etsy but was not happy with that. I’ve sold at craft shows which tests the market, and I do sell, but it’s too much work. I have a neck injury which I’m having to work around, I can’t do a regular job so I have to try and make this work. I have lots of supplies, just need to figure out the finer points of selling. 🥰Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Hi Kat, thank you for sharing your story. It's great that you have started and it will take time for your business to grow. There will be highs and lows, but honestly, the reward at the end will be great, just need to be persistent and patient. Hello Chloe. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm actually in the process of starting my own small business with my art. I had quit my full time office job of 6yrs after the stress and negative treatment was quite literally causing my hair to fall out. So now I'm trying to get things up and running and videos like these are so helpful. If you're comfortable sharing, did you have to apply for any additional licenses when you registered your business? I know if may be different in the US but I hear some people mention it as part of the process while others don't so I'm just curious. Thank you again for sharing your journey through all of your videos!

Hi Ashley, I'm so glad you're taking the leap! And best of luck for your business too 😀. When I started my business, I applied for an Australian Business Number (ABN) as a soletrader, which essentially is the license. I also registered my business name as well.

Thank you very much!💕 I will graduate from University this year and want to open an online crochet business. However, I feel extremely lost, I understand that I need to take control and make this happen on my own, but I can't help but feel worried and confused about what to sell and what to buy like yarn, package, etc. I am currently still researching to determine what I should sell, even though I want to sell all the crochet items I make 😅 I know that it will be difficult to decide.

I was the same at the beginning. If my hubby didn't sit me down and had me brainstorm a business plan, I honestly would not have started. Take baby steps first, as you don't want to be overwhelmed and slowly check things off your to do list 😊. And soon, you will have a business running. Just remember to be patient, as it does take quite some time to see results 😊

Hi there, it depends where you are, in Australia I visited this sites to register my business name, business.gov.au/registrations/register-your-business-name But I'm sure you can do a google search to find the right agency in your country to register your business name 😄

How do you collect sales tax with wix? I know Etsy takes care of it. Thanks!

There's actually a setting in wix where you can allocate which country or countries you want to collect tax, and you can put down the amount of tax too. Here is a link that I found to help you 😊, support.wix.com/en/article/setting-up-tax-in-the-wix-owner-app You can also get tax reports so that when it comes to tax time, you have all the data ready 😊

Yep, I have registered my business and have an Australian Business Number(ABN). I've also registered my business name as well 😀. I definitely encourage anyone who is starting a business to do those two things 😊

@@miamercado8151 don't have a business licence, but I am assuming the business number is that, the reason registering for a business number is for legitimacy of the business, but also for tax purposes, I currently pay tax for my small business, don't want to be evading taxes 😅
