So much helpful advice! Thank you! Just a question- so you mentioned getting the extension with the support of your school. So If you wanted to get the extension, but NOT be a student for that period.. that would be impossible? I’m guessing in order to get the permesso you would need either the school support or go the route of legally working in Italy?

I am a US citizen. Just want to live in Europe for longer than the 90 day schenzen visa. Understand there is a longer than 90 day visa called the D visa. I have no plans to work or do any business and live on my own funds. basically a retiree wanting to visit long term so can use that as a base to visit many countries of Europe. can you suggest what program is available and how easy to get one. Thanks

I’m on work visa in Italy, My thumbprint appointment is not always on time, maybe 3 months after my visa expires by then I’m already in my home country I don’t get to make the appointment. I’m here again and I don’t want to go back to my country what should I do if the appointment is after my work visa expires again?

Bravissima e bellissima Zoey. I hope for you that you will be allowed to stay as long as you wish because you sound such a buonissima persona that is who we should let in our country and live amongst us. If it was on me i would grant special people as you, a special citinzenship in our country. Hopefully the italians immigration officers will accept your application for your permesso di soggiorno so that you will feel part of Italy and will fulfill your Dreams . Yes, I speak about it in this video and others in my "Moving to Italy" Playlist. You will need to visit the police station and pick up papers for your permesso.

Hello Zoey. I am excited to listen to you presentation on the permesso di soggiorno. But ... I need to ask and share with you something first and I am praying you can give me some advice. My son started applying for his Study Visa ( For dance in Italy ) about 6 weeks ago. We emailed for an appointment but we received a VISA appt. for the actual day we were leaving. So, we proceeded to do walk in's like every day. To be exact my son went in 8 X only to be rejected each time. The last time was because I 3 hole punched my banking statements that were Notarized. Instead of being helpful ... She is rude and unkind. The 3 kids ahead of my son, ( One ran out crying she was intimidated and belittled so much ). We have been at this for a total of 4 weeks now. We were told by my sons school we needed a Schengen Visa but the lady at the consolate insisted we need a Long term Study Visa . ( the school told us to get the schengen and then just get the Permesso di soggiorno. ). We leave this Monday . We are no headed to Italy with No VISA but we do have our Passports. A good friend of mine from Italy who used to work for the consult d Italia in SF shared with me we can go get this Permesso di soggiourno. a piece of paper to keep with our Passport saying it is ok to stay for longer. Can you share with me if this will be Ok. I am very worried and concerned . But honestly we started way back 6 weeks ago going into the Consulta d' Italia. I just don't know what to do and I am nervous and scared about our travel.

Do you think we are going to need to bring him home to get the VISA for two weeks and then go back... I am worried two weeks will even be enough. I just don't know why they don't just help you so you don't need to return multiple times?
