For me it’s like I’m always one foot in one foot out in jazz. Sometimes i just want to quit because my rational mind doesn’t understand how it is even possible what some people create. My ego feels inferior listening to the masters…That state of mind leads to negative thinking about where im at on this path. I really have to become very conscious about that and stop it from spiraling further into negative thinking… comparing your progress with others is a real motivation killer so be aware of the mind doing that

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Richard! You are right. While we make the masters our inspiration, we have to remember that each and everyone of us has its own musical journey.

I was once part of an internet community like what you're talking about. Though I made friends from it, I often felt like I was competing with others. It seemed like a popularity contest at times. The majority of the people didn't seem to feel that way, although there were a few others who agreed with me on this.

This subject is paramount for me. My biggest problem is psychological! I understand more than enough but my ego / identity and pension for alcohol sabotage the application. Thanks Brentmaster

Really great advice, love your channel! Bit of constructive feedback: the relentless in/out cropping can be really distracting from the excellent tips you are explaining.
