Hi Mori san! I know it's too late to comment on this video and all. But when I was down and was not going to study (not japanese this time, it was school-related studying), and was tired of forcing myself to do so because my exams are quite near, I finally gave up and watched your video. It got me so pumped up that I completed the entire thing in an hour afterwards. I can never be enough grateful to you! You might very well be the reason for my good marks! I don't have words to express how I feel. Thank you!

Ok folks, I just wanted to write a quick (because quick and to the point is my style...**insert rolling eyes here**) post on the Busuu app that Mori talked about. I've been using it for the past few days, and it's pretty awesome. I'm actually having fun using it, and not in a colorfully animated barnyard animals singing and dancing about the word "なだれ" kind of fun. "Ooooh the mountain's sliding down and it's heading for us, nadare, nadare, nadare. All the barnyard animals are making a fuss, nadare, nadare, nadare...." (probably the only time in my life I'll actually get to use the word, nadare なだれ, so humor me). Its fun is in how the lessons are designed. The individual lessons are short, and usually start off with learning a few words and then creating sentences with them. I'm impressed with the combination of learning new words and some basic grammar in the same lesson. The lessons being as short as they are will have you saying, "Ok, just one more lesson before I log off". That's a big difference from the usual, "Please god, let this lesson end soon", that usually goes through my mind when I study. Truthfully, I could go on and on about the things I've enjoyed about their site, but the best thing to do is just give it a try. There is a free plan (what I'm using at the moment), a paid plan, and a pay a little bit more plan. As I mentioned, I'm using the free plan, at the moment, but will switch to one of the paid plans next week. Even the paid plans are blessedly cheap, particularly if you pay for a year. They keep sending me emails about getting 50% off a year and that brings the price to about $40 USD for the whole year. If you feel like it, just give the free plan a try. If you like it, you can continue the free plan, or you can upgrade. If you don't like it, just don't use it. It's not going to cost you anything to give it a try. Btw, one last thing. One of the things that surprised me, and I've been having a lot of fun doing, on their site, is helping people who are learning English by commenting on their use of the language. They will have an exercise that ask them something like, "Describe some of the people in your life. Who is the kindest? Who lives the furthest from you? Write or record your response.". They will write or record their answer and then submit it so native English speakers can comment on it. A Japanese woman asked English speakers to comment on her answer. Her answer was very sweet and sad at the same time. She said, "My mother is the most hard worker I know. My sister lives the furthest from me. She lives in heaven". I commented on her answer and told her how sorry I was to hear about her sister. She replied back to me and told me her sister was very good at English and taught English to children, and that was the reason she decided to start studying the language. I actually submitted a recording of me introducing myself in Japanese. It's the first time I've tried to speak the language for others to listen to. I'm expecting comments like, "It kind of sounds like Japanese, but it's not". Still, the fact that I spoke it and people will actually listen to it, is a first, so kind of a milestone for me.

Hello! This comment was very enjoyable to read, and I appreciate the effort! I have a few questions, if you don't mind. Has your Japanese improved since writing this comment? Do you still enjoy learning Japanese, if you do at all? That is all!! Hope you are well ❤️☺️
@_PM__
@_PM__ 2 жыл бұрын
@@maowav Hi Sora, thank you for the nice reply. To answer your questions, my Japanese has improved, but still far from fluent. I very much enjoy my attempt at learning the language. I try to study a bit every day. I'm taking a break from Busuu and have switched to Rossetta Stone. Mainly because it focuses a bit more on pronunciation than Busuu does, and I really need all the help I can get in that area. I also use Anki to help build my vocabulary, and Japanese for Humans, which is a kind of an interactive ebook/course. Also, I listen to a lot of Japanese music. I've discovered some great groups on KZfaq. My current favorite is ジェニーハイ. They are such a fun group to listen to. Truthfully, there is little reason for me to be studying Japanese. I really don't see myself having the opportunity to visit the country, but I have always had a huge respect for the nation and it's people. I get a little sad when I hear people saying they want to learn the language so they can watch anime without the subtitles. To me that's like trying to learn Russian so you can read the label on a bottle of vodka. I know most of those folks will give up trying to learn the language when they discover that they won't learn it in a year or two. You really have to want to learn the language for stronger reasons than that. My hope is that someday I'll be able to carry on a conversation at, at least, a basic level. In the meantime, I feel a sense of accomplishment with each word, particle, and minor point of grammar that I learn. Again, thanks for the kind reply to my comment.

I’m really late to this video but I just want to thank you so much for this. I had been studying for about 3 months (up until July 2022), but then I stoped because I got into a really bad depressive state. Now it’s 4 months later I feel like I’m okay enough to continue. I really hope I still remember as much as I used to! Again thank you so much for this, it helped me remember why I want to learn other languages, and it just got me back on track, and I hope everyone reading this has a good day/night!

At the beginning of June, I fell off my study. I've been studying Japanese for most of 2021 and the later parts of 2020, and I've been focusing on remembering the kanji first. I was at about 650ish kanji when I fell off. At first, it was just because I was taking a small break to unwind after a stressful first half of the year by staying with a friend for two weeks. I knew I'd be able to get back on it, because I'd taken breaks before, and I'd always get back to it after a day or two of getting back into the habit. Things weren't that simple this time. When I got back I found out that my grandfather's health had gotten worse, and within a week of coming home, he'd died. It really threw me off everything, not just my study. It threw me off my art, making KZfaq videos, even socializing. At this point, I feel like I'm starting to get back to some modicum of normality, but I haven't managed to get back to my study. I used to do 10 kanji a day, and those new kanji would get added to my flashcards to review as I progressed, but Anki is so unforgiving, it takes over an hour to finish my cards, if even that little time. I'll get back to it eventually, it's just been really hard as of late. You keep doing amazing work though, you're wonderful and so is your channel. All of your videos are so nice and relaxing. I wish the best for you in all of your endeavors~

Lol the part where you go back to bed is like - "Me"😂 Also to keep me motivated in studying Japanese is to Listen to Japanese Music aswell💕, somethimes i watch some Anime☺ with English Subtitles but somethimes the subtitles are wrong...🥲 so im finding the real meaning of it in my Dad's old Dictionary (Japanese-English/English-Japanese) And if im not lazy i will try and write it in Japanese aswell 😁 I somethimes search on YT to watch something about Japan🇯🇵 or watch TV shows from Japan 🥰 I really Love Japan🇯🇵 and ofc i Love the Philippines🇵🇭 aswell 💕🥰😊 Ty again ate Mori for making these videos, these videos helps me motivated in Studying Japanese too 🤗🇯🇵🐼

Mori San, did you ever consciously work on your pitch accent, or is it something you picked up along the way? Your videos are absolutely adorable! And relatable 🤣 Love you!

Hello there! I think it just got better the more I speak. I received a lot of comments about how I sounded stiff before but now I get compliments on how I improved a lot. So yeah, practicing really does help. Thank you so much for the support! Stay safe always. 🤗
