i always try to credit youtubers when i react to them (except when i don't approve of the channel) this means linking in the description having the name in the title and put the name in the video using graphics i also say almost every time that the links are in the description and i try to add at least as much content time as the original video i also generally do not use youtubers original thumbnails and make my own all in all being a reaction channel is easy it does not take a lot to give credit

Using other folk’s content in your own is already a tricky minefield to maneuver, but clip channels like that wholesale uploading the entire thing and erasing the original creator from its identity is like giving up and jumping belly first on the IED’s, hope that some way to regulate reuploaded stuff like that is available soon for creators like you my friend

Yeah I agree, it's absolutely wrong and the fact that music will instantly get copyrighted on videos because of royalties even if they're non-copyright yet a video someone worked on for a long time can just be uploaded by someone else with absolutely no worry of being caught by KZfaq is crazy.

The frustrating thing about all this is that, even in the context of YOUR OWN channel, this video (still well-made & articulate, but rushed and reactive) which has a more famous person on the thumbnail has 500k+ views compared to the ORIGINAL video that started it all (the one that took 3 weeks to make full of insightful commentary and great production) which has only 200k+ views. I blame the algorithm. Your videos are fantastic, and looking forward to more. 😊😊

This is what the official MoistCritikal has been doing for a while and it always bothered me. Because he starts some videos presenting himself as someone that knows about a subject, but then it turns out he just watched a viral video about it. Then he just cut right to the livestream reaction of him watching that video for the first time. Charlie does the courtesy of linking the original video but still, the original creator is the one that makes the content, does the research, the editing, the real work. And it happens that the reaction gets more views than the original video.

Seeing other people's videos be stolen (and it has happened to me with original meme edits a ton), is really discouraging to smaller creators who want to put something out there. That's because I thought it was their vods and clips that they or someone affiliated with them uploads. And I remember there being a drama between two creators because of these similar situations where one person was accusing the other for stealing their content for reactions, so it struck me as this being something similar to that. When I watched the video finally today, I didn't realize there was like an actual criminal ring that abuses the copyright strike system like this. Sorry about this man. It's funny how those reactors basically do a similar thing but just in a way people think is okay. Reactions take a fraction of the work it takes to create the video that gets reacted to. And even if the reactors are "fair" and link everything in the description or point towards the original creator.. well guess what no one gives a shit, at least a lot less people that would've seen the original video if it wasn't for a reaction. And it's so accepted to a point where creators that put hundreds of hours of work into videos think it's okay and cool if someone reacts to the full video just because they might get " a bit of a push" or because they don't want to seem too greedy. I mean if small creators react the impact isn't that big but the big reactors up top they only grow bigger and bigger because no one other than reactors could hold up with them in term of quality of content. Because the quality comes from smaller creators who don't even get something out of it. It's sad.

You must on some level recognize that Hasan specifically built that platform by taking videos like yours right? When he turns off his stream, his viewers necessarily have to go watch other creators and/or interface with recommendation algorithms and so end up finding new creators to watch that appeal to their interests. Hasan's goal is to prevent this from happening as much as possible, to reduce any reason for people to watch and/or find other creators. The scheme Hasan and his 'clip industrial complex' run, is to create a situation where he can stay live as long as possible with as much content variety as possible in order to become the middleman for the exposure that you and everyone like you would naturally recieve absent his interference. He does not give you exposure, he takes it. On KZfaq, his goal is to have any spot that would naturally have promoted someone else to show his face instead, and he succeeds in doing this through reuploading other people's videos with his face in and on them. Have you not ever wondered how a person can "give exposure" to creators for 10 hours a day yet have become the biggest US creator on Twitch? How he can "advertise" other creators with thousands of reuploads yet grow staggeringly fast on KZfaq? Reaction content INCREASES the amount of people who watch the one who makes it. It successfully pulls viewers from the wider market, from other creators to the reactor. If reaction content actually lead to people leaving the reactor and watching someone else, they would stop doing it once they recognized this was so or they would simply disappear as they would soon run out of viewers to lose. Funnily enough, being the focal point for the collective works of thousands of creators is a much better spot to be than any one of those individual workers who actually have to create what Hasan grabs with his gluttonous fingers. You will spend weeks making your next video, and Hasan will spend those weeks watching every video made by every creator just like you. You will end up with one video, he will end up with 100s and will never need to open an editing software even once. You and people like you built Hasan's platform, it is a shame you will never see it. What happened to you isn't rare, it is the norm, and it is the entire purpose of his enterprise. He has an unpaid labour force called "Hasan clip industrial complex" specifically to change impressions that otherwise would have promoted other creators on KZfaq, into impressions that promote Hasan instead. You can't beat the middleman. Again, he isn't giving you exposure, he is taking it. Your support of Hasan isn't simply about you. You support him in his lifelong theft of others. This reaction video helped you, what do you think the other millions reaction videos do on KZfaq Pinely? You can recognize a reaction video of your own content is competition, what about the other millions of reaction videos that exist because someone believed themselves entitled to weeks or months work because they sat in a chair and paused a video? How many times would your videos have appeared, but a reaction video appeared instead? How many times would someone have watched you but said "ah well, X creator uploade that 50th reaction video today, so why try something new?". You not only support the harm of yourself, but the harm of others.

I enjoyed DarkViper's series covering reaction content, he nailed a lot of it on the head. Much love for speaking up on this, I personally think reaction stuff can be cool if it has valuable input, good editing, or something to make it stand out on its own, but a lot of this stuff, especially "content farms" as others have said, end up being multiple degrees of just reuploading others vids, unedited, unchanged & without proper credit

I also watched dark vipers series on reaction content and same, I only really like reaction content if it changes/adds to the content in some meaningful way (such as an expert in a field reviewing clips/videos about the topic they're an expert in)

@@dbnathan5 In the Plagiarism video he did technically "call him out" at 1:06:54, though it is just a small joke. I wish he had gone into that more deeply but I assume it just didn't really fit the video

I was not aware of this kind of business model existing. I might have watched videos like those instead of the original content. Will be on the lookout from now on.

Same here. The KZfaq algorithm is extremely well designed. It knows we watch the hasanabi clip complex and realized this was somehow related

@@shawnv9135 the funny thing is I don't even watch hasanabi clips. I think it's just because I'm plugged into the commentary community and have watched occasional youtubers upload their own twitch clips that the algorithm decided this was for me. I also watched the original essay as a result and loved it. I became a new subscriber so they must have something right.

Only found out about you through Hasan, now I know about and like your content. I'm sorry you had this experience with these scumbags, but hopefully getting more exposure to your work will turn it around and make it into a positive.

Exactly, this dude is now getting a ton more views now. All because of the fan channel. Ok they are making money from his content, but HE is making much more than he did before it was 'stolen'. People didn't want to watch his original video, they wanted to watch Hasan's analysis. The only real issue is the thumbnail being so misleading. Otherwise thus is a lucky dude who has many more opportunities in the future, all because his work was 'stolen'

@@profess0r513 I watched Pinely's vid the day before Hasan reacted. I kinda fangirled when I saw he was getting covered during the stream. I don't think people didn't want to watch Orr's video just that a lot of people don't know they exist

@@profess0r513 it might blow him up but the content being stolen doesn’t justify the exposure. I’m no expert but if the YT algorithm is used, it could’ve gotten him just as much. Thousands of watches and clicks through YT (especially multiple videos or series) would result in a boost just as much. This is a rare case in which it was good. The fault is not just on the VOD channel but on Hasan or reaction as a whole really. KZfaqrs can put tens of hours, even hundreds of hours, into content. When someone can easily just react and not give them the views or clicks for videos (especially multiple) is just horrible. If the KZfaqrs wanted to give exposure to these smaller creators they would give them a shoutout and or not watch a video or series in its entirety. It’s hard to do that though since the feeling the creators give is admirable and the care they do have for the community is commendable. It feels like you are watching something with a friend and it’s fun but damaging to smaller creators. Pinely is cool with it, like most are, but it shouldn’t be at all. At least it shouldn’t uploaded to YT since Pinely’s video is already on the site. DarkViperAU made a great video about react channels and how they steal content. You might have heard of him from the drama he had with Charlie and in response Matto doubled down with his series that was long in the making.

DarkviperAU made a series about why react content is bad and all the "react CC" got their EGO hurt so bad they didn't bother listening and just mindlessly bashed him and sent their army to attack.
