Maybe you're addicted to the emotion caused by looking down on everyone who arrives after you. smugness?

We all slack in something, all part of being human. Humble yourself and don't look down on others. Sure there's someone who will look down on you for something and you won't like it.

I’m 70 year old woman, but went to college for many years while working full time, mostly organizational leadership at first (for my first degree), then eventually moved into counseling positions (my second degree). Although most people think I’m intelligent, I ALWAYS KNEW my brain didn’t function like other’s brain… primarily Executive Function. After a lifetime of struggling with impulsivity, chronic time-management in every area of my life, distractibility, & a plethora of other problematic issues I was diagnosed (after extensive testing by a psychiatrist) with ADHD at the age of 55, which explained at least some of my problems since childhood. My brain is defective with anything involving Executive Functions of the brain (basically everything), however, being an unseen disability, most people dismiss me as irresponsible. I assure l am not. I still managed to be valedictorian of my school but had to work 4 times harder than most other kids. I remain unable to remember what I’ve just read, then must read again & again… EVEN NOW. I learned to use post-its, alarms, & calendars to be punctual most of the time. I was never a “slacker” but understand why those who nothing about this very real, disabling condition is written off as being lazy, crazy, or just stupid. I encourage (especially SalsaSlurper) to show a little more compassion for those us who are far from perfect.
