I've been van lifing 4 years and i tried everything. Got a karcher window vacuum this last year, just hoover the windows in the morning. Btw the Karcher is small and easy to store.

I have outside covers for the front windscreen and also for my bellows and literally I have no condensation. When the van is parked up i do have one of the those microwavable packs and it really help. I also agree to using the van heater to have on a low heat, keep wet items isolated and have some ventilation! Great video and good channel!

Brilliant we’ve done everything you’ve done. Window hoover is good. Storage no problem fits perfect in between the seats. And you can convert the plug to usb. X.

I have a karcher with the smallest blade on it and it's brilliant saves having wet clothes in the van and I also use it to clean up my solapanel

We always use the unibond dehumidifiers in the van one in front and one in the back and it freshen to all so silver screen is a must

Hi guys. Well it's hard to keep the van without any condensation but the air flow is the best way to reduce it (my own experience). The external screen cover reduces the air flow, I did better without one on over the night! Thank you for your tips and very informative video. Take care. Konrad 🤙🤙🤙

Screen covers definitely with front windows very slightly open. Works every time.

I’ve a non thermal external screen cover, I still got a bit of condensation with the windows down slightly but the cover is flush to the windows so wind deflectors mights help with the air flow. The karcher window vac is better than a cloth, at least you can get rid of the water straight away.

We’ve got a thermal external front screen cover made from van shades expensive but really tough and doesn’t move in high winds and no condensation.

I have a silver screen thermal external cover that fits over the windscreen and both front door windows. Not cheap but worth every penny. They are made to measure your individual vehicle.

I can confirm the external silver screens make a tremendous difference, I had the internal ones supplied with the van and had loads of water on the front screen in the morning - with the external ones no condensation at all!

That’s what we use too 👍🏻 the good bit is you empty outside the van thus removing the moisture if you mop it with a micro fibre cloth then you still have that moisture in the van you’ve just relocated it !

Hey Tom brook thor,enjoying the videos,I noticed you mentioned gas fires cause a lot of condensation I’ve never heard of that before,what sort of gas fire did you have this experience from ?

Great to see you doing trips away as well as useful tips !! Brilliant!! Not sure if this is right place to put a wee story about helping someone out at these difficult times but here goes! I helped out my neighbour Alan the other day just by buying him some great bread rolls. He is 84 and is looking out for his wife, a year younger, who unfortunately has developed alseimers. She sometimes doesn't know him and is really difficult for him to cope, it's a real strain on him. He's a great neighbour as is his wife but her condition is really challenging for him. When I dropped off the bread rolls,he was so appreciative and greatful!! I'm glad I could help him a little during his difficult times!! I check in on him alot now as he needs help!! hi guys. we are still at the build stage so havent actully been camping yet (small kitchen and bed left,then were off) but did notice when fitting the windows some had built in drains and some didnt,so obviously buy them vented and make sure no sealant blocks them. also is it possible and allowed to leave a small 25 watt dehumidifier on in the van whilst hooked up through the night or day whilst out exploring.

We have a windscreen cover and works quite well. The windows is misted up on a morning but not massive amounts of condensation. On another note, you mentioned you have an electric hookup that you put through the window. Those types of 240v hookups are only meant for tents and not motorhomes or vans. Basically because they are not earthed to the chassis, if there was ever created a fault, you are essentially in a metal box and risk being electrocuted. You should look to put a proper 240v consumer unit where its earthed to the van body.

These hook ups do not need to be connected to the chassis at all. They are rcd protected and can be used however you want. If it was a hazard no campsite woud allow them at all.

You could try a roof vent like a fantastic fan or max air vent.

Hi Tom, great video & brilliant tips thanks! I've already ordered a dehumidifier so I hope you are on commission for those :-) We have a screen cover from Fuel Lagoon, which allows us to have the front windows open slightly. Also have the rear door open a crack - it has a lip which extends over the edge, and there is also a gulley so no rain can get in. It's much healthier to sleep with some fresh air anyway. For the windows you can use Rain-X which will stop water attaching to the glass, but all it does is displace the moisture to the next coldest surface so it's not really a cure. I found a window vac in Lidl for a tenner but as you say they are bulky and I think I'll adopt your tip of using a microfibre cloth. Also try to air the mattress once in a while!

We have the thermal black out covers for the outside of our van. We never get condensation on the front screen or the side windows. The only downside to them is that they are quite bulky.

i removed the fleece layer of insulation as it absorbed moisture i do have 2 soundead layers and a 7mm hdf . i have no moisture now.. always leave 2 windows open an inch and cook outside

@@dubventures what happens is the pillars cavity you can't get access too in rear of van will get moisture then it wicks into the fluffy insulation saturating it i tested over a 2 month period like a geek

Hi Tom, I've been following you for a while mate. We have a self converted T6 and condensation caught us out too. We have barn doors but this simple item might give you some additional ventilation from the rear of the van www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Tailgate-Door-Stand-Off-for-VW-Caddy-T4-T5-and-T6-Campervan-/401823888608?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 I'm not promoting this guy and it was simply the 1st one I came across relating to a T5 / T6. A friend at work uses one when she takes the kids out camping. The other things I can suggest are a window squeagy with a paper towel round it to stop water going down the windscreen behind the dash. The last one is to have an slide open side window behind the drivers seat. Thry are excellent for extra air movement. We're Sheffield based if you ever want to look at ours?? 👍
