Snooze bar addiction is no joke. Learn how to wean yourself off this destructive, ugly habit.
Step 1: Let the sun shine
Open your bedroom curtains when you turn in; the morning light will make it easier for you to wake up by telling your brain it’s time to get going.
Step 2: Buy an alarm
Buy the loudest, most shrill alarm clock you can find. If you have a clock radio, set it on maximum volume to a station you detest.
Step 3: Move your alarm clock
Let’s face facts: as long as your alarm clock is within arm’s reach, you’re never going to be able to resist it, so move it somewhere that necessitates getting out of bed. See? You’re up!
Tip
Get a rascally clock with wheels that will scamper off your nightstand when the alarm goes off and hide in your room. You’ll scramble to silence the beast.
Step 4: Turn on the TV
As you’re dashing to turn off the damn alarm, snap on the TV. When you see all those perky newscasters who have been up for hours, you’ll realize you’re not going to die if you don’t go back to bed.
Step 5: Try rational thought
When the alarm goes off, remind yourself that those 10-minute increments of shut-eye may feel good now, but sleep research shows that they make you feel more tired in the long run.
Step 6: Set your coffeemaker
Invest in a coffeemaker or espresso machine that can be timed to finish brewing just as your alarm clock goes off. Keep it in your room so the aroma entices you out of bed.
Tip
Another option: set the coffeemaker to begin brewing one minute after your alarm will go off-but don’t leave the pot beneath the basket. That way you’ll have to get up to avoid a soggy mess.
Step 7: Have treats
Still having trouble? Allow yourself really decadent breakfast treats-chocolate chip muffins, buttery croissants, sticky cinnamon rolls-that make you look forward to getting out of bed.
Step 8: Lose the snooze
If all else fails, get an alarm clock without a snooze button-knowing you, you’ll be too lazy to reset it for a lousy nine minutes of extra sleep.

My problems is - I have a loud alarm, other side of the room, I stop hitting snooze now, but as soon as I turn it off I just kinda automatically get back into bed and fall asleep - its got to the point where I don't even remember turning off my alarm :(

There's a few problems for this plan for me. I have a small wimdow that is diagonal (needs velux blinds) but I don't have one yet so I am used to the brightness and my room is small so there isn't much light in it. I tried putting the alarm far away but I somehow manage to ignore it and if I do get up I fall asleep whilst making my bed.

same with me !. i walk through all my room almost falling over my stuff on the ground. turn clock off and go to bed again. without really knowing it. so wierd

Having a loud annoying alarm just makes me rush to turn it off then fall back asleep. It doesnt matter if the sound is loud or annoying, it doesnt make me any more awake.

What I used to do is have an alarm clock that has 2 alarms on it. I set the first one for 30 minutes before I want to get out of bed and the 2nd alarm for when I have to be out of bed. I set it on the opposite side of my room. When the first goes off, I shut it off. I go back to bed, 30 minutes later the 2nd goes off not giving me enough time to fall back asleep and my day starts.

What I find is that if you keep changing alarm time, it would mess you up. Keeping your routine in order make a good decent wake-up time. You be up before the alarm goes off. It a bizarre phemonon.

Bet none of these things work for me, i do things in my sleep without knowing i've done them. Once, i canceled my alarm on my phone (had to go into menu's and sub-menus to do that), and when a friend called and asked why i'm not at school, i said "can't make it in today, see you tommorrow." o.O A tip that actually works, get an iPod (Classic), set alarm, connect it to your speakerset and wake up to your favorite song, loudly!

My older brother unconsciously turns off his alarm clock, too, and he has to walk a really long way to get to it. It's weird.

I used to wake up at 5 or 6, get up from my bunk to reset it for it to go off 15 minutes later to any time between 730 and 9. I really am dedicated to the pretense of waking up and then going back to sleep

I'm a very light sleeper. I keep my door locked when I sleep too. So even a slight knock on the door will wake me up. But I LOVE to sleep. I just sleep at the wrong times. x3

My old roommate used to do something like this, but he would never turn off the fucking alarm clock...it would go hours on end...eventually we had to beat the shit out of the wall every day to get him to shut it off. It was the most horrible sounding alarm in existence. Picture an old truck from say the early 70's, now picture the leaf spring suspension in the back, now picture 40 years of road wear, now picture jumping up and down in the bed of the truck so the springs screech, now x10.

I use my cellphone as my alarm, but because its a touchscreen and I'm clumsy when I wake up, I can't press the snooze button. So what have I come up with instead? I take out the battery out of my cellphone if I can't find the snooze button. xD

i am so determined to get extra sleep i can reset the time so it's 10 mins later... But well i don't have to go to work, so a day off school isn't the worst thing that ever happened.

I hit the snooze button like 10 times every morning XD but I set it like an dhour earlier because I know that by the time I get tired of pressing the snooze button, I'd wake up just in time :)

I have made a batch computer file that executes KZfaq music videos in morning like alarm. Can include nice music or roosters and fog horns. Unfortunately I can sleep through most anything some days - light, noise, radio going off loud. Even slept through roofers over my bedroom before - bam bam bam. Best thing is having a critter needing you to get up for them or they ask you to get up! Meow! Meow!

What helps me get up, is eating a peice of food, or taking a drink immidiately after you wake up. It really helps you wake up, because you have to actually chew and or swallow. it slowly wakes you up so you dont feel to tired the rest of the day. and you wont have to hit the snooze button...

Yes, because when I see perky news casters in the morning, the FIRST thing that comes to my mind is that I won't die if I don't go back to sleep. (Nope, I kinda just want to punch them for being so perky so early.) :)

yeh i kinda knew that i snooze the alarm at least 3 times so i set it to go off 10 mins earlier, that way i still get what feels like "those extra mins in bed" but i still get up when i need to. :) ....... but this doesnt always work :(

Oddly enough I have the ability to tune out a loud alarm clock after a while then fall back asleep :-p. My phone has 2 alarms then I have the radio alarm. I learn how to hit snooze with my eyes closed and tune out the radio.

My snooze button allows me to snooze for a grand total of five minutes. It's more frustrating than just getting out of bed.

I hook the button up to a small generator that shocks me with 2,000 volts. The smell is enough to wake the entire hotel.

The light thing u will just put your blanket over your head and when u get up u just go back down. Coffee maker thing its just a fail. Get an old alarm clock with the bells. put it under your bed it will sound like a bomb u will run out of your room xD
