As a single woman living alone with large housing costs, I'm conscious that sometimes those extra things like Netflix,home internet or other subscription services are not on the list but some people laugh at you like omg you're living so simply but it's a way of controlling costs,I even stick to prepay mobile and use the library for booksm or dvds.

soula K don't worry about what other people think and say, I think that is brilliant that you are so in control of your budget and living expenses and if having a pre-paid mobile works for you and reduces stress in your life, then stick to it. Sometimes people think that I am too frugal in certain parts of my life but I really don't worry too much because at the end of the day I can pay my bills on time, have some savings and continue building my investment portfolio...I think what you are doing is inspiring and clever! xCC

Hello sugar momma! Greetings from California! Just want to say thank you for all you do, I love plugging in and getting little nuggets of wisdom on these subjects. And also I wanted to encourage you that the good you do will come back to you and then some.💖 Sometimes I'm just amazed at the amount of criticism people have on here! It's way easier to criticize than it is to put the time, effort, and energy to come up with content to express yourself, your passions, and it's for the intention of improving /learning and doing better. I just want to give you a big KUDOS 💯% for your hard work. And that it's up to an individual person to discern what is applicable to them at the season of their life they are in, than pick you apart for not meeting some specific needs they have when you are giving a general talk on the subject on youtube vs one on one conversation to their specific needs. I heard that sweet isn't so sweet without the bitter, so with that, THANK YOU again for what you do, and keep doing you boo!! xoxo much love from Cally

I've been focussing on a more minimalist life in the past few months. I pay bills and keep reminders open of whats due when, I really think about whether I actually need an item before I buy it, I try to use my food in my fridge before going for another shop. I've also got my savings in a jar on my desk, this way I have to physically take from it and acknowledge I'm taking from it. its really made me want to build it more. I still live paycheck to paycheck, but I don't earn very much and have only just begun trying to get out of it. I do have a very clear path set for myself though! Thanks for your words of wisdom Canna, always love your videos.

Hi Canna. I just wanted to say thanks for all your work. I had some major life altering events this year that actually managed to deplete my entire back up fund (life account). Whilst I've been dealing with the traumatic events and the effect they've and on those I love and care for I've had to simultaneously watch my savings disappear. I'm now starting over from square one with three kids, two dogs and two cats. It's scary. But! Imagine if I had never made sacrifices and saved up like I did??? We'd be on the streets now. And because I've managed to be smart in the past I know I can do it again and will probably be more fierce this time around. In the last few days your videos have been a much needed source of encouragement so thanks and I look forward to enjoying the benefits of my hard work one day.

While your intentions seem good, this is still geared towards people whose paychecks would give them something extra to play with at the end of the week/fortnight after bills. It assumes it's a matter of mindset when actually, someone really is that broke.

hearmymotoredheart the principle applies... Being conscious and knowing what you need... I been doing this for a while now and I'm now less uncomfortable... I'm broke, yes... But at least I'm not homeless
@SugarMamma
@SugarMamma 7 жыл бұрын
hearmymotoredheart hi Guys, I was using it as an example to explain a point. And to be perfectly honest, I meet lots of "broke" people, who are dressed head to toe in designer clothes. Which was where the motivation to make this video came from...this observation has also been shared in many other famous personal finance books...xCC

you might have met people who are broke but not poor, there's a difference. most people living pay check to paycheck are actually poor and can barely afford a takeaway meal, forget gucci clothes etc.

Tram Tran Thanh hi Tram, I have met plenty of people who earn good money (actually great money) and live pay check to pay check. Which is why I made the point about it having nothing to do with how much people earn but what they do with what they earn. I will be doing a seperate video on starting from nothing shortly...

I love your videos! They are like a booster shot and invigorate me to stay on the course of not spending on non necessities! Today I'm starting another "no spend" where I don't buy anything that is not necessary. (Harder getting my 19 y/o daughter on board, we've spoiled her a bit, but she is reasonable when we tell her why-she loves Starbucks) When I feel weak I watch your videos over. I've stopped watching most make-up videos because they promote products so that we feel we need those items. Thx for making quality, helpful videos!!

Hi Gina! I've tried no-spend months too so I admire how disciplined you are! However found I approached no-spend months like dieting - it was unsustainable for me and I didn't enjoy it. Instead I reduce my spending or wait at least a week to buy it (so it filters out all the impulse buys v what I need/want long term). I can't agree more with the make-up videos as well! My priceline spending after watching beauty bloggers would go through the roof!

What do we do if we've wallowing in debt (student loans), may or may not pay rent (I thankfully live with my mom who does not charge me rent but others not so much); but only make enough to pay for our minimum bills? How do we save? I purposely do not have a credit card so I don't get charged interest rates as I can't afford them.

Really enjoy watching your videos! I agree - it's possible to stop living paycheque to paycheque as long as you have a good awareness of where every cent is going. After that, it comes down to self disciple which is the hard part! While there are some people who are genuinely hard-up, I find that most people that live paycheque to paycheque often make excuses for their 'poverty' when really it's their lifestyle that's making them poor! Having a poor mindset versus rich mindset can make a big difference. xx Miss Piggy theearnestaddiction.wordpress.com/
