Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.

Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.

It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.

The advice in this video is valuable for the typical American. I started investing when I was 30 back in 1998. Today, I have a decent $3.7M nest egg, thanks to the careful supervision of my CFP. After learning all of this, my only regret is not starting earlier when I was 25. It may not seem like much but those extra 5 years are the most important.

creating a direct debit to transfer cash to your savings as soon as you get paid is such a great tip. i managed to save around £1600 in a year working a terrible minimum wage job, simply by using a direct debit to transfer a chunk on the 1st of each month, and a smaller chunk each week. the weekly amount was about as much as i would've spent on food delivery on the weekends. those savings really helped when i left my job and couldnt find another

Great listing of solid tips! It still blows my mind that we don't teach personal finance as a required course (with at least two levels - e.g., a 101 & 201 level requirement at a minimum) in schools. The paycheck to paycheck lifestyle for many is also a factor of "cost of living vs. relatively low pay" for some, but - at its root - a lack of basic financial education for many/most.

I can see how people making 100k could be pay check to pay check. Take for example someone in California that lives multiple hours from the city to live cheaper. Their budget would be if they were frugal with no debt as follows. 100k goes to 50k after taxes that's including 15% to retirement and health insurance. That is just under $4200 a month. Rent would be around 2600. Utilities, water, garbage, would $500 if they don't use much electricity. Gas to commute the 2 hours each way would easily be $500. Insurance, registration, bridge and maintenance easily $400 Food at the cheap grocery store : $600 Cheap phone bill for 2 would be $50 Household items, personal care including haircut. $100 That comes out to $4750 out and only $4200 in. Which means they would need a side hustle just to live paycheck to paycheck.

My husband just retired in November. I still work because I’m only 59. Since his income is solely social security, one of the first things we did was put our electric bill on budget billing. Several winters we’ve gotten hit with $400-$500 bills. The thought of not knowing what the bill might be was too stressful. The budget billing was definitely the answer! I also order my groceries online. That way I can see the total as I add things to my “cart”. My grocery list is based on my meal plan for the week. This also helps us save money. We usually eat lunch out on Saturday afternoon so it makes it more of a treat since we we aren’t constantly going through a drive thru.

I stopped living paycheck to paycheck when I made my last non-mortgage loan payment in April 2010. For about the nine years prior to 2010, I couldn't write a check at anytime for more than $2K. Now having the piece of mind that I have an extra sufficient amount of savings for almost anything that comes my way goes beyond what words can express.

In Germany a credit card is basically an international debit card assessing your debit account when outside of the country. The banks there don't give you money if they don't think you can give it back which is much better for the economy. Your banks are the problem throwing out money without knowing if you can pay them back with crazy interest rates.

I view my credit card exactly how I view a debit card, because I immediately and routinely pay it off (literally every two or three days). And because of credit score building and cash-back rewards, it makes sense to use a credit card for recurring monthly payments that are going to be made no matter what (especially using an auto-pay feature). If one has any trouble with credit card usage beyond that, one should be self-aware and not use it beyond that foolproof level.

What they took out your paycheck match that in a saving with compound interests. So if they took 100 out your paycheck put that same amount to a saving.

I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets such as stocks and bonds since this can protect my portfolio for retirement of about $750k. I want to know: Do I keep contributing to my portfolio in these unstable markets, or do I look into alternative sectors?

Just try to diversify your portfolio to other market sectors, that way your investment is balanced and you don’t get to make so much losses

I stopped listening and taking financial advise from these KZfaqrs, because at the end of the day, I end up with a bunch of confusing stocks without knowing when to take profit, In reality, all I needed was professional advice.

Interesting i can't lie That’s impressive, if you don't mind me asking have you always had a financial advisor?

Not exactly, I started out with a financial advisor called "Camille Anne Hector". Her honest approach gives me complete ownership and control of my positions, and her rates are incredibly affordable given my ROI. However, do your due diligence before contacting a financial advisor.

A salary of $149,000 for a family of 4 in San Francisco is considered "low income." In my area, that same income is considered "above average." It's not an apples to apples comparison.

True, but you don't get a pass from math due to your zip code. Live on less than you earn. Even if you need to move to a better cost of living zip code.

@@donnahampton3632 I never said you get a pass on math just because you live in a HCOL area. I was merely pointing out that depending on where you live, the same income can be considered low income, above average, or even high. So, yes, you would need to budget accordingly.
