I really like how you mentioned that other OCD sufferers may freak out over something that doesn't even bother us, which in turn means our core fears aren't scary for everyone. Also, I liked what you said about releasing the control and rigidity over how things need to happen in regards to forcing fun etc. Thanks for your insight!

Hi again 😊 I’m so glad you liked those examples - they definitely helped me see that my fears are not universal and hence can be overcome

For me my checking comes from my somatosensory OCD. It's basically health anxiety mixed with obsession. Constantly checking for weird new sensations in my body or failures of balance / coordination, etc.

Jade, One thing that I think I understand but still isn't easy is this: I have this particular word that pops up in my head that scares me. It's mostly the idea that this word will get stuck in my head and I'll be miserable forever and go crazy etc. I seemed to be doing better for a while with accepting it by working on my belief that even if it is stuck in my head forever this is not the end of the world. It's just inconvenient. I can still be relatively happy if I choose to be. For whatever reason over the last week I have started really scaring myself again with this thought. This is what I think I need to do: Accept it. I can't change whether I am checking on it or if it's coming up on it's own. I am spending to much time trying to figure that part out. I need to go back to working on my belief that it isn't the end of the world while also tolerating any and all sensations that come with it. If you have any advice on this I would appreciate it. I think I partly am "checking on it" to see if it's still there and to see if I am still scared of it but I am unsure how to stop and this frustrates me and adds to my suffering.

This particular fear was one I struggled most with. Exactly what you said in the opening sentence is 🔑 Learning to see it’s not the end of the world but takes awhile to shift behaviourally internally. Nick understands this very well and covers it deeply in his videos. If you would be interested in info about a session or webinar with him 📧 phil@ocdrecovery.com I’m sure we can help!

This was very helpful thank you! I really enjoyed listening to your story. I don't have this type of ocd but I often struggle I with worry of going to Hell. I have to believe in God but I'm unsaved *condemned* because of xyz. This tough is because accepting and making peace with the idea that I could go to Hell seems weird and unhelpful, I mean who would accept going to Hell lol? Anybody at at ocd recovery hq got any advice?
