Hi. I tried a similar exercise. Sometimes I struggle with processing what I see, and think it is an anxiety from when employed in a particular intensive job, where I was overwhelmed by overwork and accountability, so my confidence trusting myself was undermined, because the intensity of performance required from me by the employer was inhuman. This added to what I had without realising, being elements of 'manageable' OCD, but became a prominent doubting disease. I mention this, because it is my example of trying to rationalise the pink or white elephant. Any similarities with you?

Hey, that sounds like a tough situation to be at work. I do believe the added stress in these instances has such a negative effect when you are prone to suffering from OCD & anxiety, it can really exacerbate symptoms. If I understand you correctly by trying to rationalise the elephants you mean overthinking & analysing? I would say yes, I do that too. I guess now I feel much more aware of when I’m doing that now so I can disengage more quickly. It has taken much practice to do so though & I do get drawn in from time to time but try to be kind to myself when that happens. 😊 Xx
