Is there a way to stop feeling hurt by those around us? Is there even a way to stop others from hurting us to begin with? How can we transform old hurt into peace?
There is a way out of this kind of mental and emotional pain. We know that people who are hurting often hurt others. But that cycle of hurt can be broken. Every act of cruelty is an opportunity to break that cycle of hurt and create a new, ever-expanding ripple effect of love and compassion. This video shows just how to do it.
I and everyone else on our team is beyond grateful for your support. You are helping us grow our Community of Kindness. Your support helps us make even more and even better high quality videos that we can share with the world to help lift everyone up so we can all live our best lives possible - all at no cost to viewers and we intend to keep it that way.

By not calling them out on their actions you become an enabler. If one cannot recognize their own behavior, then you will continually be their punching bag. I have had to let people go who I know will never see their actions and the impact those actions have on another.

Vietnamese Monk Thai Nhat Han shared a story about anger. A monk was meditating in a canoe with his eyes closed-floating, feeling peaceful and content. Out of nowhere, the monk felt a jolt of impact to the side of his boat. He immediately felt a surge of anger flood inside himself, thinking: "How dare someone disturb me during my meditation?" The monk opened his eyes and spun around to see who could be so disrespectful and careless. To his surprise, the perpetrator turned out to be just an empty boat that had gotten loose from its tether and bumped into his canoe. Immediately, the monk was calm again. How could he be upset at such a random, momentary circumstance that was beyond his control? That was the moment the monk realized that anger wasn't outside of him- It was inside of him. 🕊

I think my biggest hurdle is finding words when I am being 'attacked'. I am now at the place where I can see the issue lies with the attacker and centre myself but the words don't come......not until hours later. My body reaction is always immediate and visceral when I am needlessly being attacked because it is so unexpected.

I think in order for one to get to the place you’re describing, one must first genuinely get to the place of forgiveness. We can tell ourselves over and over that we forgive, but on a deep level do we really forgive? Mentally it’s so easy to forgive but emotionally, I’m not so sure. Some wounds leave deep scars that take time to heal, this should be understood in order to avoid a superficial forgiveness. I do agree wholeheartedly that one’s aim should be understanding and forgiveness to break this cycle of victim and perpetrator. This cycle adds greatly to the suffering in this world, only compassion and empathy can break the cycle.

I think in order for one to get to the place that you're describing, one must first genuinely and deeply let go of their injured ego before an attempt at forgiveness is even possible through this understanding of human nature. Something which, for me at least, has proven to be very difficult in the past. HOWEVER, your advice here is so sound and precious. I'm very grateful that I came upon it this morning and I most definitely plan to save and watch this video again as soon as I feel insulted or offended by what I perceive as someone else's negative impact on me through their words and/or inconsiderate actions, most likely later today but that's a whole other story. Lol. Thank you immensely for these pearls of wisdom, Todd. Namaste, dear soul.

There are people who hurt others to gain something....my sister causes chaos and I've had to let her go. I was shocked to know that she can't say sorry. She's aware alright. I do not desire to be hurt again and again. You must have heard of covert narcissists. When I showed her, her faults, she had a rage tantrum for 20 mins at our Dad. As an empath and person with pudendal nerve pain , I need to be careful who I let into my heart. I can try to forget her but I don't want to ever be hurt, the way she has hurt others, not just me. These people have a mental illness of a demonic kind....materialistic, sycophantic and are bullies. Surely, you realize this....its a modern day disease, to get ahead and make more money, while stepping on others. It's time these people were told their behavior is unacceptable and to call them out on it. Love, compassion and forgiveness isn't always the answer. I hurt everyday, but have never put my suffering on anyone else. My sister doesn't seem to have any empathy or even awareness of other people. She's 50 and her behaviour has become worse over the years. She pees in the bed, and blames the blanket. I have only shown love and acceptance towards her until I saw her real self. It has been like a death to me....

@@marypaulosky2214 I'm still writing quotes and notes to strengthen my ability to deal with her when it happens.....as she's my sister, there will be occasions when we will be in the same room. I'm also protecting my aging parents from her rage and gaslighting. It's weird how I let her carry on for so long, but inside I knew she is self serving and unable to love. I just couldn't let her carry on without standing up to her, as this time she got into my private affairs. I guess I snapped. Somewhere I just said enough is enough!!! And I'm relieved in a way, that it's out in the ether......she will never be satisfied with her life, even though she has so much to be grateful for. Funny thing gratefulness.....I suffer in pain everyday for 30 yrs now, but am so darn grateful of the birds in my garden, the flowers that bloom...kind words from strangers..... And my sister doesn't even know what it is..... Nite.....Mary.

Thanks Todd ❤ I too believe that forgiveness starts my loving our fears to the point that through them we can see where healing is needed. Our suffering “produce by others” is a reflection of their suffering. If we can start loving the inner child of us that got hurt years ago and snuggle it in our own love, that inner child can see the suffering in others. That which we describe as an “attack to us” is their inner child suffering too, their un heal wounds, but this time our reaction is compassion and deep understanding of their pain so we just send love vibrations their way. Thanks for your movie. Amazing photography, love your love, thanks for existing and sharing it with us ❤

There are so many way’s how people are hurt. And I think a lot need a different approaches. I agree that it is better to find peace in your self, and forgiveness also. But on top of that we live in a dualistic world. We need to get touch also. So i suggest to get out of the victim part, sometimes you need to show people you are not to be messing around with. Gives a lot of peace by the way, you do this with compassion also.

If you explain what the person objectifying is actually doing, and they still cannot see, it's best to stay away if at all possible. And we have to never forget: in the past we ourself hurt people too, knowingly or unknowingly, but Kosmos will always make balance. And it’s important to be aware of not only deeds, but also hurting feelings and thoughts. All counts for Kosmos, all is energie. If we try, we will experience that this is the truth. I’m not saying it is easy, it’s asks another mindset: to understand it’s not helping us to defend but it’s helping to understand and let go. And that is hard to grasp in the beginning. Good video, but I actually don’t think you should respond with love when someone does something or says something wrong. I think you should respond with your true feelings of how it made you feel. When you respond with love the other person doesn’t learn anything cause you aren’t holding them accountable. I did this for many many many years. I actually was so empathetic in fact that it was impossible for me to get mad at people, I naturally would always see it as “well this person had a hard childhood” or “this person isn’t aware enough….” And what you are a doing is repressing your own emotions and believing that only you know what’s correct and not and the other person has no agency. Certainly we shouldn’t let other peoples poor attitudes be taken into the self- but to not respond can also lead to repression.

I agree with this. It's complex but I watch a therapist on KZfaq (Patrick Teahan) to work through my issues over a narcissist father who verbally abused us and a passive mother who was loving but enabled his behavior with that very excuse, "he had a bad childhood". It rings in my head she said it so much, while I was crumpled up crying. It's still abuse, it still causes trauma to young people trapped and unable to get away. I moved across the country but I let them see my kids only once a year because he's mean to them too, but I speak up when it happens.

ॐ Hi, Todd, very very true whatever you explained is very important to implement in our daily Life as soon as possible, for own Peace of Mind. Our Scriptures too say the same . These are Triguna = the Qualities of Prakruti = Mother Nature, that work in each Names and Forms in the World. Because we all are also made of both Prakruti is Matter and Purusha is the Energy. So every bit of this World is made up of combining these two Matter and Energy.

I am an autistic adult who lives alone. For the last 11 years, I have "killed" my misogynistic, ableist, hateful neighbor with kindness. I telepathically send him Love, I wish him wellness, I pick up trash from his lawn and watch over his house when he's gone. Eleven years and he still treats me like complete dog shit, verbally abuses my dog, has parties and talks loudly about me to his guests, blows garbage onto my lawn with his leaf blower, reports me to the city for extremely petty reasons, and even has thrown dead animals across the fence in my yard. I tried to believe he was "hurting" about something, but I have to start thinking that he's just a bigot who hates me because I'm different, and he targets me because I'm a woman living alone with no support. I have empathy for him, but I also have empathy for me...

The only people who have hurt me in my life were my ex boyfriends. It was emotional hurt, of course. And, each relationship was more difficult as time went on. No other people have hurt me, only them. My hurts have prevented me from dating involving myself in a relationship.

It can be sooo difficult to forgive someone who has walked out on my lovely daughter at the beginning of the Pandemic. Leaving her with three young children. I’m finding it impossible. He did the same with his previous partner.. left her with their two kids!!! My daughter seems able to forgive perhaps because of the children. Forgiveness in this case... easier said then done!

That is no doubt one of the toughest things imaginable to forgive. Be patient with yourself. Don’t forget to take deep conscious breaths when it becomes overwhelming. Each breath is like a free ride to the present peaceful moment. Don’t force yourself to forgive or DO anything, just allow yourself to BE. The more awareness you bring to your feelings, the more you may decide they’re no longer worth holding onto. Peace and love

I understand, but could you or anyone give a concrete example of what we could actually do. What does that look like, especially in the heat of the moment? Thank you!🙏

What that means is that when someone engages in hurtful behavior, we do our best to witness the painful emotions within us arising, witness our thoughts and not to resist them or be angry with them. Just observe and accept them. Then, as the present witness, we can remain calm and present, and through clarity rather than anger, we can see the best path forward. Hurtful situations don't need to cause us hurt when we can see the big picture in these small moments. We can respond with strength and compassion. Over time, every act of kindness we take will help lead to a kinder world.

When I am able to do this, it is powerful and healing. I am struggling with when someone continues to hurt you, emotionally, over and over. It almost feels like I am a punching bag who will keep going back for more, who keeps allowing abuse... when is it enough? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thinking this way does not help me. Someone who has tried to get me to commit suicide multiple times doesn't deserve me showing them love. In their mind, that would justify hurting me.
