I go over the reasons why you should store your fountain pens properly and show some options you can use to store your fountain pens. Some of these options are fountain pen cases, fountain pen rolls and fountain pen boxes.

I love how you've combined your mineral knowledge with your pen knowledge! My pens (I have a decently small collection), usually live upright, in a pen case. I do have some sleeves for extra special pens (such as a gorgeous cherry blossom sailor ;) ) .... and on occasion I will display one on my desk if I'm doing a writing project or writing with it frequently! Amazing video- thanks!

Another great and informative video. I had no idea there was quartz in dust. I also use the cup method for my cheaper pens like my Kakunos and Preppies. For the pens I keep stored away and don't use much, I have trays with black flocked slots that are used by antique dealers who are selling bracelets or watches. Each slot can hold two pens if you don't mind them touching. These trays have glass covers, so I stack them and drape a cloth over the top one to keep the light out. I have about 6-7 different storage systems going, but I think I like the pen rolls the most.

You are like me--I have several storage solutions because it keeps things interesting! Those jewelry trays sound pretty cool. I keep some of my minerals in watch cases and just throw away the little part that holds the watch and then I have nice compartments for my rocks!

@@InkyRocks Another great option are tea caddy boxes. I just found a nice lidded wooden one for a few dollars in a secondhand shop. I removed the insert with the squares designed to hold tea bags and will be buying pen trays for it. They might work as is for holding rocks or cartridges, nibs, etc. And some seem to have permanent square sections made of wood--the one I found had a plastic insert that was just glued to the bottom and could be ripped out.

Hi, i’ve read a few of the comments and realized no one has mentioned what i use: the tray that comes with frozen spring rolls or canelonni (not sure of the spelling here☺️) i wash the plastic tray ,put a thin flocked fabric over it, .it’s sturdy and fits in an empty xmas card box . Some longer pens don’t fit,but most do. Thank you for your videos, they take my mind off of things i can’t change and i learn at the same time!

If you go to the "about" page on my channel and click the button that says "view email address" my email is there. I'd like to start showing some of my viewers' pens, ideas, artwork etc in my videos. I would credit you, use a name you want (real name or KZfaq name or whatever) or keep you anonymous--your choice. But if you don't want to, that's OK too. Thank you for sharing your great idea!

I have pens all over the place. The ones I rarely use are in cigar boxes, loose, or in the single six-pen felt-lined display case. The rest are in ceramic cups (nibs up), horizontal in plastic trays, or just lying on my computer desk or dining room table. I don't "collect" pens; everything I acquire, I use, and I have never considered selling one. I have given pens away to friends, and once or twice to strangers. Some of the best-writing pens I've ever owned are the cheap Pilot Varsity pens, but I don't like throw-away pens (or throw-away anything because of environmental damage). I do not use pen cases or "kimonos" due to the extra time it takes to get the pen deployed; I have a Day-Timer shirt-pocket notebook that I clip a pen to at the current date.

Excellent Video 🌹😎. I had no idea quartz was in the dust! I guess you an teach and old dog new tricks 😉. I’ve been using thrift store purchased “Tooth Brush Holders”. Much cheaper (I think, ... my wife purchased them years ago) rather then new. Saw a Marble 4 hole(r) solid block on Target online, but $19.99 seemed too steep compared to a couple of bucks I think was paid for the one(s) I have . Of course, leaving them exposed to dust and the like does nothing to protect them, but they are ... kind of on display I suppose, and I can pick whichever one I want for the day quickly and easily 🤗

Thank you! I wouldn't worry about your pen display. Where the problem comes in is if your pens get a thick coating of dust and then you wipe it down--and if this happens often. If you use your pens often enough, they won't accumulate all that dust and your'e good!

I'm surprised anything in my house is still intact, given that there's quartz in dust ;-) I know I should probably take better care of my pens, but none of them are expensive and I keep my inked up pens in a cup on my desk so I won't forget to use them often. My brother made me a beautiful wood pen block out of mahogany….then I read about the dust issue. Ugh. I use most of my pens, only have just under 20…the storage options are overwhelming, but I’m leaning towards the Rickshaw cases and pen sleeves. They are not made of leather, are made in the USA, come in fun designs, and looks so soft and cozy. if I were a pen, I’d want to live in one
@InkyRocks
@InkyRocks 2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! That’s actually a great video topic-where would I want to be stored if I was a pen! Don’t worry too much about the dust issue. It’s more for long durations of time and then wiping down the pen haphazardly (so it scratches). In the end, it’s more important to use your pens than coddle them. Hope you find a good solution!
