This video shows how I store rice long term. There are several ways you can do this, but this has worked for me for years. I hope this helps! Thanks For Watching!

Hi from Puerto Rico! Before storing my rice, pasta or beans I place them in the freezer for 3 to 5 days, depending on the amount, so any weevil eggs can be eliminated. Then I store them. I'm storing everythong and anything I can, not only food but also over the counter medications, personal hygiene products, house and kitchen cleaning products, storage containers and bags. I saw your video on butter storage so that is next on my list of storage products. Please keep these videos coming cause I love them and specially your carisma child. God bless you and yours always. 😉

I was just coming to the comment section to say the same thing! I put mine in freezer for 3 days, then use silica packs that you can get from amazon to keep moisture out. I love the idea of the bay leaves. Bugs hate them!

Hi! I don't know you, but I'm so stinkin' proud of you! I'm watching this video 5 months after it was posted, and your words about food storage are now, and will be, so very important. The Fear-mongering reaction from CV19 was a heads-up on how susceptible Humanity is to 'LACK'. Many of us remember well the Bread line pictures in Moscow in the 1960s, our parent's stories about the soup kitchens and scarcity of everything during the Great Depression and wars. So KEEP ON KEEPING ON with your homestead pioneering spirit and REALLY GOOD help and hard-earned Wisdom. This mess might be worse the next time. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY SEEDS YOU'RE PLANTING TO LITERALLY CHANGE FAMILIES' LIVES FOR THE BETTER, not just now, but for generations to come. You're a fun teacher. The different stores have different colored 5 gallon buckets (Lowes has blue, Home Depot orange, etc) I stored all my rice in blue buckets, beans in red, flour in white, sugar in gray, etc. At a glance you know your inventory. As your filling your buckets, you will tally how many pounds of that item fits in the bucket. Like 35 pounds of rice fits in each 5 gallon bucket. Also dont buy the cheap lids that are sold separately. Instead invest in GAMMA LIDS. They run $7.99 each but are well worth it. They are heavy duty and have an O-ring making the bucket airtight.

Have you checked out any of the info on these channels, so much we aren't being informed about if we depend only on the lame stream media. In support of this first statement take a look at this, then tell me you believe you can count on what the "NEWS" is telling you. Its all controlled, like in the movie Wag the Dog, most of it is lies to control the dialogue, to shape the point of view of reality they want the masses to have. If you look into Floyd....there is so much going on there we aren't being told, like the copper with his kneed on the dude's throat that supposedly killed him, WORKED with him at the same place when he was off shift....they knew one another. These riots just like the plannedemic were intentionally designed & started. Pallets of bricks have been dropped on the streets (financed by George Soros) intentionally to give the people out there objects to throw & cause damage & death. Give me a break, if people can't see that's planned then they deserve what's coming next. Check out Holly Dremmam Deyo she does amazing prep info research as this wonderful channel we are watching here obviously has & does. Holly wrote Dare to PRepare, her husband Stan Deyo is also an amazing man & if you look any of his interviews or talks up he is informed from inside sources as to what is planned for our demise, what to expect in our future so we can mentally, [hysically & most important Spiritually prepare for what is upon our doorstep & going to be unfolding over the coming years. Its time for people to get out of the cities if they can & if not truly prepare to hunker down & not have to be out in the public areas where mayhem will reign as some point in time when we all really need to be staying home. Carol please check out these channels, you will really appreciate the info they deliver on topics weekly such as State of Global food supply Weather around the world & what it is doing to the crops of any given year Information you won't read or hear in/on lamestream media but intelligent informed individuals know or want to know. Ice Age Farmer channel Adapt 2030 Grand Solar Minimum GSM which is an historical cycle of the sun that affects food supply b/c of temps & weather The Two Preachers (you won't believe the ongoing extreme flooding & weather around the planet we are NOT being told of) for yrs now. Dr Rashid Buttar - about the lies we are being told about the cv 19 situation its all about a global agenda for total control, lock down all the time everywhere with 5G A.I. surveillance grid system being installed around the world whilst we have been locked in our homes....unfortunately helping them to install the UN AGENDA 2030 aka UN AGENDA 21 for a future under a Dystopian Dictatorship COMMUNISIM for all forced vaccines, forced microchipping, cashless society where you are monitored, rated & your access to travel, purchase goods, receive govt assistance etc. depends upon what your points rating is AS WE SEE CHINA TODAY. Did you know the first MEGA City to go all 5G under A.I. is WUHAN? or that the CRUISE SHIPS have 5G, or that ITALY is one of the first nations to go 5G, that NYC has 5G or that the ventillators are run by 5G remotely from the nursing stations? 5G is mm wave technology used by the military in arenas of war, it negatively affects both the Oxygen & Water Molecules even when they are those that comprise our body, causing all the signs & side affects of hypoxia, aka oxygen deprivation, altitude sickness...there once were a number of videos on YT of Drs & scientists explaining this danger to us but they have ALL BEEN CENSORED. because they are TRUTH & the powers that be want us to only believe their lies. the riots are planned the plannedemic was planned see EVENT 201 Look into Bill Gates he is a eugenecist & wants world population reduction & HIS vaccine ID 2020 will do just that. KILL many of us it actually ALTERS THE RNA & DNA of all those who take the vaccine. Do NOT take it if you know what's good for you. I stopped watching TV going on 10 yrs ago now I research for 6 hrs nightly instead. Here are some of the most important things I have come aross we all need to know I want to share with you. The freezer warehouses used for harvest season are mostly empty right now, I have a friend that owned one for apples from all over New England , turned the temps down to freeze instead of crisp. They moved millions of pounds in a week. So none will go to waste. Used to be beef was hung and seasoned for months in cold storage, now it’s slaughtered and packaged. Making ppl FORGET it CAN be stored for months air hung at 35 degrees while it seasons to WONDERFUL! Make a post on this info, sent it out daily, it’ll get to who will organize this action in your country!!! It happened within a week of news of destroying goods to be exported and restaurants they were closed would be destroyed, we are not letting it happen. Farmers were greatful, truckers responded immediately, food banks made arrangements with freezer companies. And we are going to have a CHEEESE SURPLUS. Lol Oh, and our girl HERE, just showed us how to preserve the eggs! We are not going down! We are taking back the knowledge that modern technology has made obsolete. And WE ALLOWED it. No more! Our grandparents have all this knowledge, PROTECT THEM AT ALL COST! And let them retract the knowledge we have lost!

Another way you can store rice and beans long term too is in half gallon Ball mason jars and using a vacuum sealer to suck the air out and seal the jars or by oven canning to seal the jars. If neither of those options are doable, just storing them in the jars closed tightly is fine, too. If you have issues with mice, the mice can't chew through the glass or metal lid, either. The virus isn't here in WV yet, but all the surrounding states have confirmed cases, so it's just a matter of time. I'm going shopping this morning to get some bulk supplies/food I need and some canning jars to can up a bunch of venison and free up freezer space, and hopefully find a good deal on bulk potatoes and can a bunch of them up, too.

Hi! I love the name Homestead Heart, that suits you! So watching this I went to Lowes and they had 5 gallon food grade buckets for under $5 and a lid like the red but blue for under $3. Bay leaves I got from Krogers for $2 and I put 3 lbs of rice in it. I think it could do 4 lbs of white rice. Found out Parboiled rice stores well for a long time.

I love that you use bay leaves. My aunt saw flour and cornmeal in my refrigerator and told me to get that out of the refrigerator and put some bay leaves in it and put in the pantry where it belonged; been doing that for 40 years now and it works!

Bay leaves, layer it in your bucket. Throw some salt on every layer as well. Mylar bags oxygen absorbers other people use I don't buy it, cost factor... I love your rice storage method. You can ask local bakeries for their flour buckets as well. Our grandmother's and great grandparents didn't have Amazon, oxygen absorbers or mylar bags. They preserved their foods by canning, with salt and bay leaves. You go girl love you. Rice storage for the rest of us. 100000000 thumbs up.

I see them as the largest enemy of small family businesses...in my area they certainly changed our wonderful self sustaining way of life where businesses passed from mother/father to son/daughter, educated their children and grew their community. They replaced this way of life with low paying jobs, robbing the citizens of their self-pride and self-respect...just saying...advice from an old lady...

Be sure that if you do have bugs, just measure the rice and add water. Bugs will float to the top and will pour off. Rinse again and make sure no more bugs. Now put in rice cooker and add water, salt, and oil. Cook as per instructions.

On what you were saying about Walmart charging now for buckets, I believe it was more so because customers were coming in demanding them and acting as if they were supposed to get them, even at times when there were none available. HOMESTEAD HEART! Thank you for the QUICK VIDS! they are to the point, and I’m forwarding for quick memos to all my FB. I’ve kept myself mentally broke for years, but many of my friends have done well and become complaisant. And I fear I will be the one giving it away after years of learning, so instead, I am sharing the knowledge. Simple basic knowledge. That ya don’t have to be a preppier or homesteader you accomplish. ( not saying I am not making the allowance for those who couldn’t, or even those who didn’t, or even those who should have. IM NOT GOING TO LET PPL GO HUNGRY) I am planting all over 9 acres of woodlands, all the glades and Hollar’s. Today I have poison ivy from clearing a glade yesterday. I’m not Tilling, just taking topsoil from under the leaves and making piles on top of landscape fabric. I’m disabled and stuck home anyway, lol so I take my PT time and go Garden everyday. I will have vining foods going up saplings I took the leaf tops off of. After observing how all the wild things grow.( I left the wild grapes) and did herb seedlings along all the glade and Hollar edges. These spots all get 8 hrs of sun a day, and I don’t have to water , as it’s all creek run off. And I put leaf compost back down to protect the soil. Most people think you have to till, clear, and have cockle shells all in a row, when NATURE grows with no intervention or support! Lol It’s not a lot of work to grow. ( the weed farmers have always grown in glades in the woods, so why not real produce?!) I also used fallen old dead trees for mulch, they fall apart just stepping on them. And hold much water. There are many videos on wild farming. But I LOVE YOUR PRESERVING VIDEOS! They are a great resource for “START TODAY!, START ... NOW!”

Activated charcoal is also used by doctors and vets to help absorb poisons in animals and people when they have ingested something poisonous.

Brown rice will store long enough for winter, just not long term storage. You can get clear food grade plastic liners instead of mylar. They work especially well for buckets you may have around that arent food grade. Also you can throw in an oxygen absorber and tie the bag, then seal bucket lid. If theres oxygen, mold can grow I think. I had no idea about the bay leaves and bugs though, that is a handy tip! Another wonderful video! 💕
