The better the Strop. The smother the blade. Reduces drag. And when you're bored in the stand, you can look at your reflection on the cutting edge.

Proper stropping is a total game changer and that bacon presentation you did in that other video really put the importance of stropping, into a tangible perspective. Until I saw that, I really didn't get how important stropping really is and then it makes even more sense why the steel quality is even more important. Cheap steel blades are worth their weight in scrap (barely).

Having your broadheads as sharp as possible only works to your advantage and makes for a short tracking session if everything falls in to place for you and your shot is green two Alpha aka has found its mark sharpening your knife broadheads is achieved by practice and taking your time and everything will fall in to place for anyone that cares to learn and making it happen light pressure and take it slow and it will fall in to place theirs very good information in this video if you're wanting to get your broadheads where they have to be when shooting broadheads with some steel in them.

Yup. Goes along with everything I know about woodworking tools and kitchen knives. Sharpening is a mystery that will never be mastered by anyone but together as a species we are getting better at it. This was right to the point. ( no pun intended ). Thank you.

Love your videos brother. I bought the Ravin R500. I had the bolt’s beefed up. Bought the 100 grain steel inserts from Sirius. Total weight is 477 grains on a 20 inch bolt. Speed is 467 fps . Kinetic energy is 231 at 990 momentum. In your opinion would that be enough of a plan B set up for whitetail deer and pigs here in Georgia and South Carolina? Driving tacts at 20 yards. Just got my 100 grain weighted adapters today to bump my total weight up to 577 grains with my 150 grain field point. Would that be over kill or would the 477 total grains with my cutthroat broad heads be enough? Or the annihilator 150 grains?
@caninphx
@caninphx 2 жыл бұрын
are you serious? you're shooting the same weight of arrows that we normally shoot in compounds about 150 fps faster. you're covered from plans a through z. do not worry about front of center with those bolts at that speed. make sure they are flying well you will blow clean through an elk possibly two if they were standing back to back.
@KenKen2023smith

@@caninphx thanks for the advice bro. I went home back in South Carolina for Mother’s Day and I stopped in my local archery shop and he helped me make sure my arrows were knock tuned and all flew in 1 inch groups. He did all the calculations for me. I been shooting a center point 370 for the past 3 years. I have shot bows for the past 15 years and it’s been hard to put that crossbow down after hunting with it. When I saw that R500 I got curious!😂😂😂😂

@@KenKen2023smith how's the string life in the Ravin? if heard they need to be replaced quite often? I'm actually looking at getting a killer instinct swat XP or whatever it's called.. unfortunately it appears there is some issues with limb cracking.
@KenKen2023smith
@KenKen2023smith 2 жыл бұрын
@@caninphx so far so good! A lot of what I have heard about cracked limbs is because they are making them so fast that you really are just dry firing your bow. That’s why some people I have talked to says 550 total weight should be minimum for those 400 plus bows. Last year I killed 5 on the ground between 5 and 15 yards with my center point 370. I crafted my Ghillie leafy suit as if I was in a airsoft competition with hecs base layer on. They literally never knew I was there. I’m shooting 150 grain heads with a 100 grain steel insert. This is why I was asking Troy if I had enough weight for this new set up for the numbers I’m getting out of it. I hate I didn’t get my weighted adapters before I left for the weekend so I could see what kind of speed , momentum and energy I’m gonna get with the 577 total weight.
