47 yrs young here. I could carry a tune or two until the internet came along and then KZfaq. I have learned a lot of songs on here that I always wanted to play in High School and finally I can play them. Jesse's Girl,Smells Like Teen Spirit and anything else with riffs I love. Free Bird is my next project I am going to get a loop box to play one part then the other parts lol Skynyrd is a hard band to play alone to and sound just right.

You're Welcome I have been watching your videos and I have to admit that you go more into depth than the others out there. I am not a beginner so I replied because I catch on a little faster. I understand that you're explaining to some beginners but I just want to jump to little faster playing lol. I hope you get what I am talking about. I have never seen Simple Man taught the great way you do. Other uploads just show you a riff and that's it,but you go deeper. Keep up the great job. ;)

Guitar Couch Lessons I have a question. I have a Washburn X-20 and a 50 watt Peavey RAGE 258 Transtube Amp it has 3 amp settings Stack,Modern,and Vintage. I have a DigiTech RP90 Modeling Guitar Processor with Expression Pedal and also a DigiTech RP55 without Expression Pedal. Both can be set to Bypass but I don't want to burn them or my Amp up. Can you connect both of them together like RP55 from guitar Input and a Connector Cable from the Output to the Input of the RP90 and Output to Amp and set one to Bypass and use the other? I know you can't run both together one has to be in Bypass mode. I also have a separate French Toast Octave Box I would like to ad in there too. Thanks I just Subscribed to your Website but I already have a Membership with another right now when it's up I will look into joining yours. You always respond to your Subscribers and I like that.Thanks

Thanks for providing a really good lesson. I like how you really explained the strumming strategy and an overview about breaking it down. Really helpful. Especially the part about getting the first parts down and coming back a couple of days later to build on it. I’m just learning how to strum and liked your lesson.

I began playing guitar at 17 years old. Put it down for many many years and about 10-15 years ago picked it back up. While I am a pretty good strummer I really enjoyed your lesson and the patience you took explaining the patterns and the use of a Metronome. I am now 63 years old and already employ many of the techniques you instruct but enjoyed the reinforcement that I was doing it right. Thank you sir.

Thank you so much for the superb strumming and rhythm lesson and the song Simple Man chosen Darius. Before playing along using your counting and strumming pattern, I was using DDUUDU which was fine for me as a beginner so far. But now using your strumming D_DDU per measure the song sounds now much more like played by an Advanced Beginner. Next challenge for me to practice are the hammer ons, there I am still struggling.

Hi Darius. I'm 57 and brand new to guitars. I've been struggling with trying to keep up with other videos. They go too fast for me and I get frustrated and quite watching. I must admit at first I was put off by you saying now I have to keep moving my hand. I thought great. Another thing to try to learn. That just shows how much I do NOT know,,,lol. I have no rhythem and obviously your method will teach it to me. I hope. This song picked is what I think is what a lot of people want to learn how to play for their first song. I know when I met the guy to buy my Yamaha FG720 he played Simple Man and I was sold. Thanks you very much for giving me hope,,,lol.

You reminded me of my Instructor in a way,but I realized he was only teaching Power Chords and I wanted the real Chords. He asked me what i am into and Lynyrd Skynyrd is my number one pick. I guess it's because they crashed 5 miles from my home,I was 8yrs old and I was on that dark country road watching the men bring them out one behind the other and put the stretchers on one of the many Ambulances that were there. These men walked back into the woods their head lamps disappearing into the thick woods one the one mile trip back to the crash and crossing a 20ft wide waist deep creek. We didn't know who crashed until the next day. All we heard was that a passenger plane had crashed and my family went to see if they needed help because we thought of it being a larger passenger jet with a lot of people. I knew who Skynyrd was because my aunt and uncle listened to them and a couple of years after the crash I got my first guitar for Christmas. I wore out 3 Gold and Platinum Cassettes playing by ear with them,even though it was an Acoustic lol I had blisters and blood on the strings as I built my fingers to fret the strings right and stop getting blisters

This is one of the BEST lessons I have EVER had on learning to play a song. Can I apply this same training lesson on playing knocking on heavens door since it is D D DU. Also what kind of metronome are you using. I am new to guitar
@guitarcouch
@guitarcouch 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda. Thank you. It is really awesome to get a message like that :-) I use a Boss DB-90 metronome. But it is huge and bulky - totally old school, but it does sound very natural. These days it's so much easier with the apps on our smartphones. You can get a metronome for free. Just type in your app store a word “metronome” and you will find plenty of apps. One thing that I always pay attention to is the sound of it. I like a kind of woody sound - some sound too digital. The strumming for Simple Man is similar when it comes to the numbers of the strums, but it has a little bit more of a swingy feel. Do you have any suggestions when it comes what you would like to learn? Darius
