Sir would a slight detour make sense ? If I wanted to apply to an B school but wanted to get some international exposure first. Would it help to get an Intermediate degree at a relatively low cost college or a free college if the degree was on a peripheral subject like psychology or Human Resources ?

I say peripheral and not unrelated because this degree would still be a good add-on to my practice...so if I was considering a pit stop ..would that make sense from a career standpoint ?

Hi Sameer. I’m a CA with 3 year articleship experience and 1 year post qualification experience. I’m confused between doing MBA or MIM abroad. Since MBA had better network and legacy as compared against MIM. My aim is to work in the Management consulting side. Do advise. Thank you

If you have the patience, an MBA will give you a bigger back for your buck. Most top consulting firms recruit from good MBA programs. We have a separate video on how to get into consulting firms. Check it out.

Your best bet now would be to get into the industry and company that you like, work there for a few years and try to strengthen your professional profile. With your experience an MiM won't be a good fit. Better to build your profile and focus on MBA.

Many good universities offer the option of fully-funded PhD programs. It's not practical to create a list of those. So you'll have to check based on the specialisation you're aiming for, since the list will vary depending on which professor (and your potential PhD mentor) is doing research in that area.

Some programs, such as the MBA, are now open to both GMAT and GRE scores. However, specialised ones (such as PhD) may still have their preferences. So it's best to check out the official websites of your target universities to see what they accept. For those who accept both, you can take either without worrying about whether one is better than the other. What PhD specialisation are you aiming for?

We don't recommend that approach. All the good MBA programs in Canada, and across the world, will expect work experience. A few might offer test score waivers. But better to be patient and build your profile first. That way your investment in higher education would be better utilised.

Quite unlikely, if it does not have the rigour of a credible certification and anyone can get it without breaking a sweat.

If you're only looking for a certification in project management, check out the PMP certification offered by PMI. It's more cost effective than a regular MBA.

The first minute was about showing dreams the last about reality check. PS. The audio quality for this video wasn't the best, meaning there were some background disturbances.

Dreams and reality checks are both important to be able to decide whether to move ahead or not, isn't it? We got a new (highly sensitive) mic that captures more sounds than we'd like - including impatient honking cars, loud autos and excited (for no reason) crows. We've left them in there as too much noise reduction causes the main voice to sound robotic.
