👋🏻 Hey guys! In this video I cover how I'm studying for the USMLE Step 1. I go over all the resources I'm using (First Aid for the USMLE Step 1, Pathoma, Boards and Beyond, Anki, SketchyMedical (Sketchy Pharm & Sketchy Micro), USMLE-Rx Question Bank, UWorld Question Bank, and Cramfighter) and tell you how I'm using them and why I'm using them. I'm an IMG studying for the USMLE Step 1 so I hope this helps other IMG's out there who may not have as much support as US medical students when it comes to preparing. If you find this video useful and want me to make more videos about my USMLE Step 1 experience please do let me know in a comment down below. If you're currently studying fo the USMLE Step 1 with me then... good luck! 💪🏻

After I saw this video, I realized that you’re in a total different level as a medical student compared to me. I’m still at the end of my second year of 6 (here in Brazil, the course is 6 years long) but I realized I have to start working things out more seriously. Thank you for the video. Although I don’t have any thoughts on practicing medicine in the US currently, things might change in the future.

Thanks for all your content! Can you make a video in which you talk about how much does this journey cost ? All the upcoming exams (USMLE 1 and 2 and everything, from the very beginning, to landing on the land of dreams America) We really need it and everyone has a different answer for that. Some say you have to take it in America, others say you can take it somewhere else in Europe. I'm a Tunisian medical student in the second year right now. And I really need to know the exact amount of money I'm going to need so I can prepare myself to work, raise some donations,.. I can barely afford the money needed for resources xD so this is a very huge thing to me.

Step 1 prep super easy that I wish I knew early on - DO QUESTIONS (Uworld, USMLE Rx, etc) and have a review source (boards and beyond, first aide, pathoma, sketchy, etc.) to help you brush up on any topics you feel you have a deficiency in while doing questions. Don’t listen to anyone that tells you that this is EXACTLY what you need to do and use. Use whatever resources you’re comfortable with. But the underlying principle will never change, questions should be the guiding force for your prep and you can work with that principle and build on it however you want because only you know how you learn best.

Hey you guys, austrian IMG here. I just graduated and am currently waiting for my residency until Q1 23. until then i thought i might aswell torture myself and try to crack the USLME Step 1. Here's my Question: I dont like splitting the FA chapters into the different disciplines like embryology,anatmoy,physio, path,pharm - i go through a chapter in FA, watch B&B and sum it up with Anking and Rx Qs. Since i still struggle with my Schedule (3-4 Months dedicaded) i was wondering: Shall i do *micro* in one go (start with Staph Aureus and finish with Antimicrobials) and *pharmacology* as a whole in one go (start with basic Pharm, Autonomics and finish with respiratory Pharm) or with the different organ systems depicted in FA - OR would you recommend doing e.g. 10 Microbes and 10 Meds paralell to the daily pensum? I know this is personal preference but im very curious abour your experiences. Would help a lot! xx

Kharma Medic sorry so how does it all work? After you take this exam, what do you need to do further and is there anything that needs to be done before the USMLE?
@cheeteiklee2638
@cheeteiklee2638 4 жыл бұрын
@@seobeng4437 There are 3 steps for USMLE and once you pass step 1 (no matter what score you get) it sticks with you for 7-8 years. Being an International Medical Graduate (Non-Americans and Americans that study outside US) you have to pass Step 1 with a competitive score to be considered for an interview. Canadians would mostly do both USMLE and the Canadian exam just so that if Canadian match doesn't work out the states would be plan B or vice versa. Of course there's always staying in the EU for internship but being a non-EU/non-CAO you're naturally at the last of the priority rank as EU law requires them to give a job for EU citizens before opening it up for non-EU. With Brexit this is (hopefully) going to change so the chances of getting a job in the NHS might be higher but it depends on where do you want to be trained. The NHS provides 2 years of internship training and after that you can compete for specialty training but in the US it is 5-7 years of "internship" but you are already in a chosen specialty. What I have said is to my best knowledge so there might be something that isn't accurate/ detailed.

Chee Teik Lee Can you complete the two foundation years in the UK then apply for residency in the USA?
@cheeteiklee2638
@cheeteiklee2638 4 жыл бұрын
@@jamesh9124 Yes you definitely can if you are from UK and would like to be registered as a doctor at your home country first (as a fall back plan in case training in the states isn't what you expected half way in the program). As a non-UK/ EU student, you can too if you get matched into the NHS, but you still have to start from 1st year of internship/ residency when you get to the states. Generally you'd like to get step 1 out of the way as it is an exam of a huge ton of basic sciences that you could be having a hard time recapping when you start clinical medicine. There are the so-called optimal timing for an IMG to do USMLE and if you are interested you should talk to your school about it and find out what have the previous students done in order to maximise the chance of getting matched in the US.
